there were no seats in the dining room available and they were very accommodating to allow us to order off of the dining room menu at the bar. we tried the mushroom skewers and escargot to start. the mushroom skewers were better than i anticipated, i loved the sauces that they paired with them. one was on the sweeter side and one was spice which made for a great contrast. the escargot was also nice, the sauce was buttery and a little different than other preparations. the bread that comes with the escargot looked a little hard but it was perfectly soft. for entrees we tried the duck and the 4 quarters burger. the burger was amazing, there are lots of great burgers in the city and i’m always on the hunt so this one didn’t disappoint. the duck was also amazing. nice portion and the celeriac puree went very well with the berries. for dessert we tried the guinness sundae which isn’t my favorite dessert ever but it satisfied my sweet tooth. the cream they put on top makes it, i could eat a bowl of that alone. the ice cream has a mild beer taste, it will be stronger if you don’t drink beer. i thought it was creative and it worked. they also gave us a free side of fries which was super nice. the fries are hand cut and were good but i’ve had better, don’t think i would ever pay for me. overall the meal was great and the atmosphere is so much fun! i would...
Read moreI had the pleasure of attending the soft opening of Soso’s in NYC, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. The back room where I was seated felt incredibly intimate—perfect for a cozy evening. The decor is so unique and effortlessly cool, blending seamlessly with the history of the original South Soho Bar. The vibe was whimsical and fun, making it a fantastic spot for a night out.
The drinks were absolutely top-notch! The menu offers all the classic cocktails you’d expect and then some, with each one crafted to perfection. But the real star of the evening was the food. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see a variety of options—not just the usual token dish. I tried almost every vegetarian item on the menu, and each one was a masterpiece.
The whipped tofu with crudités was light and flavorful, the pomme purée was buttery and indulgent, and the cabbage—yes, the cabbage—was absolutely to die for. I never thought I’d be raving about cabbage, but here we are!
To top it all off, dessert was a showstopper. The Guinness sundae was decadent, rich, and heavenly—an absolute must-try.
Soso’s has nailed it on every front, and I can’t recommend it enough. Don’t miss your chance to experience this incredible...
Read moreCame for dinner with a friend, and we had an amazing time here - good food, great ambiance. We got the hamachi crudo, the terrine du jour, crab royale, halibut, sugarloaf cabbage, NY strip steak, and the strawberry sorbet dessert special. I must recommend the hamachi - the fish was so fresh and the sweetness of the thinly sliced strawberries and cut of the chilli and lime was amazing. Was close to getting another round of those. I also especially liked the halibut, the fish was perfectly cooked, large portion size, and decked out with some clams and other seafood on the side. Lastly, I didn’t expect to love the sugarloaf cabbage as much as I did. It was perfectly citrusy in between every layer of the cabbage and the hazelnut cream sauce complimented the flavors so well. The staff is super attentive. The vibes are great I mean it’s a little dark inside, but it’s a perfect intimate dinner spot. Drinks are good. And I loved that the bar room was separate from dinner. The bar was rowdy and amazing vibes but sitting in another room (which was also lively!) made it easier to talk. Will be back...
