Went with high expectations due to the high reviews. We were a group of 4 who went for brunch this Saturday and was seated at the furthermost back. Ambiance wasn't bad, decorative, but very noisy, crowded and table are pretty close to each other. We didn't mind all these, we were there for the food and drinks. We all chose the $25 unlimited mimosa or aperol. Aperol tasted pretty bland, mimosa was the decent option between the two so we sticked with it. It's only $25 which sounds like a fantastic deal really except it's too watered down. We literally felt like there was no alcohol. Anyway we were chatting and wasn't drinking much and realized we only had 2 pitchers of mimosa. Kimberly attended to us and just got the empty second pitcher without letting us know we had 10 mins left. So anyway 10 mins after we ask for another one and she says, "oh it's been over 10 mins. ago." Literally the only brunch place in NYC that doesn't let you know "hey you guys are almost done, do you want another one?". Anyway, we tell her we didn't notice the time but we only had 2 and she said "it's not about how few or many you consume ". Okay, attitude. LOL. Anyway, food wise, half of our group went with steak & eggs. My friends didn't like it. Half went for the Chicken and Waffles and it was just okay. Presentation was Instagram worthy but the waffles were bland and soggy. The chicken was decent. We ordered the mussels in white wine and garlic to share, I'd say the mussels was the only dish worth recommending. Also, unsure if this is just a training issue but our server was 'questioning' our friend if she would also share the shrimp with the table and made her uncomfortable. It was a bit awkward. Maybe don't question how much food someone wants to order if they're willing to pay anyway? It's good for the business anyway right? Lastly, bill comes. Pay through my Amex card, despite the attitude and mishaps, proceeds with a 20% without even thinking about it. Not sure if that made her change her perception of us (and if we can pay because we were the only non-white people), all of a sudden she comes with a round of key lime shots and starts being nice and conversing with us. Overall, pretty place. Would come back if things are better. Oh and the bathrooms are pretty spacious and clean. That I have to give them props about.
P.S. Server asked if we wanted additional bread seeing there was still so much sauce from the mussels to dip in to. My friends said yes of course. Took 25 mins to arrive, for 2 small pieces. And imagine our shock when we saw there was a $3 charge for it. I mean we can absolutely pay but isn't it decent to share that it's not complimentary and btw it's $3? My friends otherwise wouldn't have thought it...
Read moreTara Rose: My favorite Irish spot in NYC — where the vibes, food, and energy just hit right 🇨🇴🍀
Living in New York means being surrounded by endless bars and restaurants — but every now and then, you stumble upon a place that feels special. That’s what happened with Tara Rose. I found it by chance after a long skating session through the city… and now, it’s become my absolute favorite place to chill.
There’s something about the atmosphere that just grabs you. It’s warm, inviting, full of good energy — the kind of place where you can relax, feel welcome, and just be yourself. Whether you sit at the bar or grab a cozy table, you feel like part of the family from the moment you walk in.
Now, every time my friends visit from Colombia, I bring them here. And every single one of them falls in love with the place. They always say, “This is the exact kind of spot we were hoping to find in New York.” And I get it. Because Tara Rose isn’t just a bar — it’s an experience.
The food? Absolutely delicious. The Short Rib is rich and comforting, like something your Irish grandma would make (if you had one). The chicken tenders sound basic, but trust me — they’re famous for a reason. And don’t sleep on the irish fries or the steak sandwich. Everything is flavorful and made with care.
The drinks? Next level. I’ve become obsessed with their Spicy Margarita, and the we make this for Molly is one of the best I’ve had in NYC. You can tell the bartenders know their craft — they pour with precision and pride.
But honestly, what makes Tara Rose unforgettable is the vibe. Whether it’s after skating through Manhattan, catching up with friends, or even coming alone to unwind — this place always delivers. It’s got that perfect mix of laid-back and lively, where you can laugh, connect, and let the day melt away.
So if you’re looking for a spot that feels real, where the food hits, the drinks surprise you, and the energy lifts you — Tara Rose is it. It’s become my go-to in NYC, and I can’t recommend it enough. A comer...

Came here for brunch and it seemed like a great place with positive reviews.
We walked in and were greeted by the smell of an odd bleachy smell. We were then sat about 10 feet from the door where we started getting comfortable. About 2 minutes later we realized the front door to the restaurant was wide open and made the inner door to the place stay open from the wind and it was FREEZING! No less than 4 people (all customers) tried to shut the front door on separate occasions and each time the "owner" would come and open it back up. We finally asked him why because it was cold and he smugly and unapologetically told us that there was a bleach smell by the bar and he was allowing fresh air in. we told him it was very cold and he said that he would turn up the heat, which he never did.
Then came the wait. Oh, what a wait it was. It took our waiter at least 20 minutes to come and take her order. Some of our drinks showed up about 15 minutes later, the rest nearly 45. Our food did not show up until we had been sitting there an hour and 15 minutes!!! Not exaggerating! And when the food got there, two orders didn't even show up in one took another 15 minutes! We were all nearly finished eating when his right order finally came.
It seemed like this place was severely understaffed, but they acted like nothing was wrong the entire time and that the wait we were experiencing was completely normal. It was insane.
Thank God the food was decent. But still not enough to make me never want to come to this establishment ever again! Such a great idea, such a fun menu, terrible terrible hospitality! Even by New York standards. This place has been three different establishments in the past two years, and I don't see this one lasting much longer than the...
