Do Not Disturb — Restaurant in New York

I came here on a Saturday night with my wife and some of her friends and I left with them crying.

This place is an upscale elevated dining experience but the staff have zero respect for anyone. I was in shock from start to finish.

I have a shellfish allergy and I ordered the chutoro crispy rice when I tasted it, it didn’t taste like chutoro to me so I asked our waitress politely If this is indeed chutoro. Her response was abrasive- « whatever it says on the menu is exactly what it is OKAY? Thanks. » and then walked away.

I let it go. I wanted to enjoy the night. As the night went on one of the waitresses younger sister, was belligerently drunk and rammed in to our table. A full table of drinks spilled on us. There was no care or concern, instead defensiveness over her sister. The drinks weren’t changed for us, no napkins brought to help clean us off.

The bill came with all the spilled drinks. When my wife went to remind the waitress that they were spilled, she again said « why are you being like this, it was an accident «

After more verbal abuse from the staff who told my wife she was being crazy because mercury is in retrograde-(what?!) she finally asked for a manager to explain how poor of an experience we’ve had.

A man by the name of jojo came out did not ask what happened just immediately started screaming louder than what I thought is humanly possible and cursing. It was the most classless thing I have ever experienced. He even commented on the authenticity of my wife’s purse. She stood there silent and shocked, she did not raise her voice, and stuck true to who she is with class.

The manager needs help. He is not well. That’s all I have to say, even though I can probably say more about it.

I hope this establishment does...

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding an unacceptable experience I had at your restaurant on May 24th at 8:00pm. Upon arriving with my party of five, we were informed that our seating was arranged for only four people. When I politely asked if there was any chance we could be accommodated more comfortably, the manager shockingly responded by calling me "obnoxious" and stating, “this is what we have—if you don’t like it, you can leave.” He went on to say that the restaurant didn't need our money and ultimately told us to leave. The interaction was not only unprofessional but also deeply disrespectful. His aggressive tone and dismissive attitude were entirely inappropriate for someone in a leadership role. Furthermore, his erratic behavior raised serious concerns—he appeared under the influence of substances and absolutely unfit to manage a restaurant. As a patron who was excited to support what is advertised as a Black-owned business, I was especially disheartened by the treatment we received. The irony of experiencing discriminatory and hostile behavior from someone representing a brand that promotes inclusivity is not lost on me. This experience was disgraceful, and I sincerely hope you take this matter seriously. No customer should be treated this way, and I urge you to investigate this incident and take appropriate action to ensure this behavior is not repeated. I would appreciate a response acknowledging this complaint and informing me of any steps...

This is the place you go for atmosphere ONLY! Beautiful restaurant, amazing location and great ambience. Music selection was fun, staff was welcoming. Food was extremely lack luster, especially for the prices. I had the crispy rice party, and it was probably the highlight of the evening but still subpar to many other crispy rice dishes in the city for a much a better price. The salmon dish was absolutely disgusting and my friend had a burger that looked like it came from the shake shack menu only there would probably better, OH and the French fries were soggy. I love to support ANY black business especially in NYC, ESPECIALLY IN WEST VILLAGE! Was really excited about trying this place and pretty bummed with my experience. After we ordered our food we never saw our waitress again. It took over an hour to get our appetizers another 30 min for our entrees. When we were done I had to get up to ask for our check because we sat there for another 30 minutes waiting just for someone to come assist our table. I hope they update this menu...
