Classic New York pub vibe. Relaxed, easy atmosphere. Limited menu, but then again if you come here it's for the drinks, the burger(s), the fries, and the onion rings, and that's all there is on the menu so I'd say the menu is complete and exhaustive 😉. It can get loud. The space is cramped so unless you are going during off-hours I don't recommend (for your sake and also for the comfort of other patrons) that you bring strollers or car seats. Otherwise Corner Bistro is kid friendly as much as most other restaurants and much better than many. No table cloths, no expensive things that can get broken or stained. Service is very personable and old fashioned in a very New York kind of way and everyone is made to feel comfortable. If the bar scene is too loud and cramped there is table service in the back room and there are also both sheltered and open-sky tables outside. If you are from out of town and want to do a one-off excursion then order the Corner Burger (this is the works and a real indulgence). Be prepared to get dirty. This is not a clean eats but sooo satisfying and finger licking good, literally. For those that are regulars or plan to become regulars I'd suggest going for the simpler burger or cheese burger so you can taste the first rate meat patty. I ask for my bun toasted so it doesn't fall apart as easily. My option... Want to experience a slice of New York and make believe for a second that you've joined the bohemian world of the West Village surrounded by the ghosts of painters, writers, and minstrels? This is Positively a 4th Street hangout you can evoke them in. Do it soon before too many bags from the chic meatpacking district store crowd out the old spirits. Cash only, with ATM...
Read moreIf you live here long enough, you’ll run into an ex (friend, lover, boss, enemy…) when you least expect it. I haven’t eaten/drank here in 20 + years, only because I don’t hang in this hood anymore. It’s the same- ish.
Back then, this was one of the best burgers in the city. It was a destination. Shake Shack only had location and their lines were insane. Remember the live feeds?
The burger is as mid as I remember. The price seems double than I remember. The clientele are more basic than i remember. The service is as indifferent as ever. Damn, I’m old.
The quality of the burger is above average, but the taste is disappointing. It’s under seasoned, the bun is too small for its girth, blah- blah- blah. Back then, burgers like this were the gold standard. The standard has moved, my palette is different and this has stayed the same.
If you’re into this style, it’s amazing. If you’ve moved on and can’t go back, it’s mid. This was like hooking up with that ex you haven’t seen in ages only to remember why you broke up in the...
Read moreAghhh the burgers aren’t as good as they used to be. Took a burger lover here, because I remembered how I loved this place when I was here many years ago…. and oh gosh, I don’t know if it was an off day, but the burger patty was BLAND, as if they forgot the salt. I personally under-salt my food, so this was a first. The place was so busy (and we were really hungry) that we just drowned our burgers in ketchup.
The only saving grace for this place is the ambiance and feel of this bar, and that our waiter was accommodating despite it being SUPER crowded. I would honestly do 2 stars because the food also took a VERY long time, but I mean …. my nostalgia and my desperate desire to still love this place is in me. I would encourage the folks here to taste their burgers and rethink something. I have no idea what—I’m not a restaurant owner/chef. But what I do know is that I was embarrassed that I had hyped up this place, and my company told me “wow that was the blandest burger I’ve ever had and we are never going back...
