I came here on a Friday night while passing by Brooklyn with my sister and her boyfriend. Honestly, this place is oddly racist. As two Latina women and one Bangladeshi man it was such an uncomfortable experience. We got seated and noted that everyone in the restaurant was white (the customers) it took about 10 minutes for someone to ask us if we wanted water or any drinks. We were patient and got our drinks, no napkins, no utensils. About 20 minutes passed while we have our drinks and we were looking for our waiter. Despite him making direct eye contact numerous times, he helped every other table around us instead. I thought maybe he was just busy, so we waited another 10 minutes and noticed he was looking for other things to do instead of helping us. At this point after waiting almost 40 minutes, I explained to the hostess I would just like to pay for the bill. I understand when a place gets busy but it was clear we were the only minorities in the restaurant and being refused service. After paying, I told the hostess goodnight and thank you for her help but she didn’t say anything back and looked at us up and down with an expression. This is not a feeling I would want anyone to go through and if you are reading this and are to a minority I would think twice about coming here. We deserve the same service as any other...
Read moreI ordered a beef burger with curley fries. The burger was not that good. You get a very thick meat piece that is not seasoned - the burger is really dry - I didn’t order any extras - but when I added avocado still dry. There is no sauce and I find it peculiar that the extras are what make a burger a signature burger of a restaurant. But you are there to decide for yourself but each costs 2 dollars so the 15.50 dollars for main burger seems like a good deal but then when you add all the nice things avo and cheese it gets pricey. Just don’t know why a restaurant that is there since 1887 treats their menu like “subway” make your own.
The Curley fries were amazing- really crispy but have to say way too many. I can eat but the portion was unnecessary much. The plate also was not a smart choice - everything just fit on it - so if you were to decide to cut the burger instead of eating it with the hand (due to massively thick meat) there would have not been a way…
It’s just sad that the burger wasn’t really good there is so many options all over NYC and I shouldn’t have...
Read moreNeighborhood locals, frequented Teddy’s many times before. Stopped in early evening with our 6 month old. Normally would give this place 5 stars for beer selection and ambiance. However today, we had dismal service. We were scoffed at when we requested to sample some of their newer beers on their rotation to decide what we wanted to order. Then we received some suspect garlic aioli with our fries. We told our server it tasted stale or funky and she brought us the same exact one. She slapped it down on the table without even saying a word, and never checked back in to see if it was better. When we paid the bill, we mentioned that it still tasted off in case anyone else ordered it. There was an awkward pause after which she said she’d tell her manager. I gave her a more than generous tip for the level of service, and she bee-lined to her coworker to complain about us and give us a death stare.
Overall, we’ve always loved it here. Have even sat at the bar and got to know one of the owners who is very nice and accommodating. But today this put a sour taste in our mouths...
