I had a disappointing experience during what should have been a simple and pleasant breakfast pickup at the bar. I placed a to-go order with the bartender, who was initially courteous and professional. However, when I added a $2 tip to my bill, his demeanor shifted noticeably. I overheard him mumble, “Might as well have not tipped,” which felt unnecessarily passive-aggressive and unprofessional.
From that point on, the warmth in our interaction disappeared. When my order was ready, it was handed to me abruptly, with no acknowledgment or farewell. It was an uncomfortable and surprising change, especially for a place of Regency’s caliber.
As a guest of the hotel, paying over $400 a night, this is not the standard of service I expect — or should have to experience. I understand that tipping expectations vary, especially with to-go orders, but guests should never be made to feel embarrassed or judged for their choice of gratuity, particularly when they are tipping at all.

Read more#LoewsRegencyBar & Grill is my neighborhood “#GoToPlace” - As fall weather approaches, I had the pleasure of meeting a colleague at Regency Bar & Grill, my neighborhood staple for 25 years. This iconic spot is renowned for its exceptional service and culinary delights, including Wall Street's Community known for the 'art of the deal'. We were warmly greeted by the F&B Manager/Exec Chef, Manjit, whose suit stylishly embodied his fall spirit. He treated us to an array of delectable fish and seafood options, including succulent lobster and signature crab cakes. The pièce de résistance: fresh-baked cookies & generous cups of cappuccino. Thanks to Chef John, we had a truly unforgettable experience! We eagerly anticipate our next visit. Then, not only did I watch the bartenders have conversations with everyone around me and make me feel invisible, food took forever to come, and I was POISONED! By the time my dessert came, I was too sick to enjoy it 😮💨 I ordered the very mediocre Crab cakes and had to be walked to get in my car due to being ill. Spend my weekend sick and ended up in the hospital. Dizziness, nausea, irregular breathing... you name it. I don't recommend it for people of color especially.👎🏽 Out of over a thousand reviews I left on Google, I never had to leave one like this and hate having to do it, but never experienced this in NYC ever and I'm a native...
