Dining at Ulivo in the vibrant NoMad neighborhood was an unforgettable experience. As a vegetarian, I’m always on the lookout for restaurants that don’t just accommodate my dietary preferences but celebrate them. Ulivo does exactly that.
From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in a classy and sophisticated ambiance, setting the stage for a remarkable culinary journey. The staff’s warm welcome and attentive service were just the beginning of an exceptional evening.
The menu, brimming with vegetarian options, was a delightful surprise. Each dish I tried was a revelation in taste, crafted with the finest ingredients and an evident passion for Italian cuisine. The flavors were authentic, rich, and perfectly balanced, making each bite a joyous experience.
But it wasn’t just the food that impressed me. The ambiance of the restaurant, with its elegant decor and soft lighting, created a tranquil yet upscale dining environment, perfect for both intimate dinners and special occasions.
Ulivo is more than just a restaurant; it’s a testament to how vegetarian cuisine can be as sumptuous and exciting as any other. For those in search of exquisite Italian food, exceptional service, and a dining experience that caters beautifully to vegetarians, Ulivo in NoMad is a destination not to be missed. Read moreMy new favorite. We arrived at 10.45 on Saturday after a late train. Kitchen closes at 11 but we were warmly welcomed and offered the full menu. Such elegant service and a great menu. Plenty of interesting wines by the glass, cocktails and after dinner digestivo. Menu is classic elegant northern italian with all my favorites. Decide on spaghetti alle vongole with fresh spaghetti. So good! Spaghetti was freshly made by still had a chew. The best I've had in Italy and beyond. (Don't tell my dad!) The sweetest little clams with just the right amount of sauce and tons of flavor. Also had a simple salad which was dressed perfectly. Pasta fagioli was perfect for the cool weather, and the amatriciana was delicious with ground guanciale mixed in with the rich but vibrant sauce. I am from northern Italy and now live in DC. I am always looking for good pasta in NY, DC and Boston - in a comfortable and warm setting. Without breaking the bank. It has not been easy to find truly authentic, perfectly cooked and memorable pasta - even in NYC. But I found it an now need to find a reason to...
Read moreI'd give this place ten stars if I could. We were there for our Christmas Eve meal and I'm not sure we could have picked a better place. The hostess was one of the nicest people we came across in New York and the waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, but he didn't hover. The atmosphere was warm and felt luxurious without pretention. The house-made pasta did not disappoint. All of us got a different pasta and all were fantastic. Rather than olive oil and/or balsamic, the complimentary bread came with an olive oil and caper dip. It was so simple yet so delicious. Ditto the grilled veggies, olives, and meatballs that we got for appetizers. The cannelloni was somehow rich and light at the same time and the gnocchi was maybe the best we've ever had. The hostess told us it's because they don't use potato. We had the tiramisu and panettone for dessert and both were platonic ideals of those items. Wonderful espresso drinks to go with our dessert. Whenever I travel, I hope to have food experiences that are impossible to forget and this was it. Make a reservation and make it part of your...
