Came here for my birthday, shout out to the kind staff who allowed us a reservation on a Saturday if we showed up at opening time. This place has sprung from the lauded Ugly Baby and my neighborhood's Somtum Der– and that's to be taken quite seriously. The hype is real, the food is very good. Vegan friends, there are great options for you! Among them, our vegan enjoyed the Khang-Ped (mock duck), a very tasty blend of sweet and sour red curry with grapes and pineapple. There was also the standard spicy basil tofu dish, which was more exciting than I expected. I'm not an apps person but we did get the okra and were delighted to find it was not fried (cheating) nor too slimy (not cooked right). We ordered another round for the table. I do regret not getting the crab cakes, but I probably wouldn't have wanted to share 😋 From the rest of what we ordered, I'd absolutely go back for: -What The Hell!! Fried rice, which by default is a pleasurable spicy, but has an additional sprinkling bird's eye chilis on the side if you wanted to up the ante (and we did)...it burns so good. -Pad Prik Khing, silky soft pork slices with smokey depth from the chili paste and zing from the kaffir. I think this had to be my favorite dish, it was so good we ordered another plate. -There was a whole fried fish chef special, if they have this GET THE SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE OPTION. Crunchy and finger lickin' good. -Ki Mao Seafood was full of ocean flavor, tender squid, and thick bucatini noodles. I thought spaghetti would be an odd combo but if you're a fan of italian this is a happy marriage between the two. Drunken noodles meet allo scoglio. My single critique is the Midnight Train to Georgia is an unbalanced cocktail for $17. I like dry or sour over sweet, but this one was neither, and it was the one cocktail out of my friends orders that flopped for me. I'd add more bitters or something sour. On the flipside, the Ma-Krut, Mean Girl, and Baby Be Good are where it's at. I would come back for those and some small dishes at the bar on the reg.

Read moreCame for lunch and tried the thai tea, crab croquettes, soft shell crab with apply salad, and the thai tea. Thai tea had great flavor but a bit sweet. I asked for more milk to lessen the sweetness but they werent able to accommodate. The croquettes were well done with a delicious tom yum sauce. It was soft, tender and fried perfectly. The soft shell crab was my favorite, the fish sauce, lime and sugar balance was perfect and the apple and onion were a great pair. The sea bass is their specialty as was recommended by our waiter. We were surprised that the hot fish came out on cold, boiled, unseasoned broccoli, cauliflower, and squash, but we were told it was to bring out the flavors of each. The fish was well seasoned, soft and the skin was crispy. A small piece of the fish looked raw but it was fine. The part that threw us off was the vegetable pairing. Not sure if the boiled, cold, unseasoned vegetables brought out the flavors as we tried bites with just the fish and found that to be more flavorful. At $38, we were slightly disappointed. Overall the vibes were cute and the staff was friendly. Next time, I’d want to try the what the...
Read moreI was really excited to try this restaurant based on its inventive menu, but unfortunately, it left me underwhelmed.
For appetizers, we had the ceviche and evergreen rolls. Both were good but didn’t stand out as anything special.
We decided to be adventurous with the "What the Hell" rice—while it was very spicy, that was about it. At $29, we expected more than just two shrimp.
For mains, we ordered the E-San style fish, which was disappointing. While the fish itself was cooked very well, the portion was small, and the accompanying vegetables felt mismatched and were quite bland.
The Tom Kha Risotto had a beautiful presentation and well-cooked scallops, but it didn’t feel like a Thai dish—the flavors just weren’t there.
The Kao-Soi, however, was the highlight of the meal. It was fantastic, truly the best dish we tried.
For dessert, we had the taro cake and banana dessert. The taro cake was absolutely delicious, but the banana dessert didn’t quite impress.
As for the cocktails, they were fine but lacked balance and depth.
Service was good and the restaurant is...
