Vanilla Gorilla Cafe — Restaurant in New York

Averaging my rating from two visits. My Saturday coffee run was great - the staff was friendly, the coffee was decent, the sandwich was good.

But my Sunday visit.... Well, it took nearly half an hour to get a cup of black coffee. First, the woman at the register couldn't figure out how to take orders - she didn't seem to know what anything was, got names and orders mixed up, and was very slow as a result. It took a few tries for her to understand what I was even ordering. Multiple people got the wrong orders, including she gave my black coffee (which she poured) to the woman who ordered a latte, at which point it was discovered they were out of coffee and needed to brew more - they didn't have any in the reserve pot, and it took multiple tries for her to set it up, even with help. When the coffee was finally ready, she poured the cup and put it on the counter behind the register, out of reach, and walked away. I had to ask multiple times to finally get it. I understand that she and another employee (2 out of the 3 there) were new and training, but training both during the Sunday morning rush seemed like really poor planning, especially with so many orders...

I ordered their vanilla latte and and the chicken parm croissant. The vanilla latte was very good. Normally I think vanilla lattes aren't really anything special, but there's I feel like was a solid vanilla latte very good. I would get a vanilla latte from them again.

The chicken parm croissant however did not taste very good. It was just bland and not worth it. I would not get that again, if you want a chicken parm get a chicken parm sandwich from here or anywhere else. It doesn't need to be in a croissant. Honestly don't think you need to put anything inside a croissant because the whole point of a croissant is it's layers. So I really wouldn't recommend their croissant stuffed things.

Ever since I’ve discovered Vanilla Gorilla Cafe on 8th Ave., I have become a loyal customer - all thanks to their simply sumptuous sandwiches (especially, Pastrinos) and golden chai lattes 😋.

Needless to add, a HUGE shoutout to the amazingly awesome, friendly, courteous, and always smiling staff (especially, Elki). Please keep up the EXCELLENT work you guys are doing!!! Kudos to you!!! Way to go!!! Yay!!! Hooray!!!
