DO NOT GO HERE. I got a viral skin infection after getting a Brazilian wax - molluscum contagiosum. This was confirmed by my dermatologist that had to freeze it off.
I stupidly came here twice- the first time was in March when I got a Brazilian + Lower leg wax. A lot of stray hairs and horrible irritation on the bikini line despite paying extra for the “sensitive skin CBD wax”. The lady was very nice however but it upset that area so much I had blood blisters along with what looked like an ingrown hairs that popped up shortly thereafter. It was also incredibly painful- way way worse than other neighborhood places like European Wax Center
For leg waxing they use a roller applicator which has no way to keep sanitary. Literally the same roller is used on every client. Which when it comes to waxing is gross and unhygienic considering it can involve blood.
I have them a second chance because they’re a neighborhood small business. I went back for the last time on February 17th. This was a different woman that was rude and dismissive. She was trying to be so fast that she didn’t hold the more delicate skin taught and it left me with a ton of blood blisters. I paid for a Brazilian- the front she did completely lopsided, left a ton of patches of hair and did not even wax the back. When I asked about doing the back she said yes but then never did it. I asked again, she said she did it- definitely did not. It was pretty obvious. I also had eyebrows threaded and upper lip waxed. Threading was more painful and slower than anywhere else I’ve ever been and upper lip left irritated for the rest of the week. I don’t normally have this reaction.
Since my first visit I had this bump on my bikini line that wouldn’t go away, today I went to the dermatologist and it was confirmed what it is and where I got it.
So yeah, there is no way I would recommend ever going here. I would recommend doing it yourself at home or going somewhere that knows what they’re doing.
You should be using hard wax in such a sensitive area, not whatever they’re using. And it should be a sanitary space- this is actually dangerous.
Normally I am not one for going with corporate places over independently owned spots but in this case, I would visit a bigger space that has properly trained waxers.
They should refund me for my visits and stick to just threading or something. In the meantime, I hope no one else has...
Read moreI just visited one the best waxing studio in east village called Lili’s waxing studio in NY, for a Brazilian waxing session and had a fantastic experience. From the moment I entered, the salon’s cleanliness and inviting atmosphere stood out. The staff greeted me warmly and ensured I felt comfortable throughout my visit.
The technician that was working was highly professional and attentive. She took the time to discuss the procedure, address any concerns, and made sure I was at ease. The waxing process was efficient and relatively painless, thanks to her expertise and the high-quality products used.(
I also appreciated the studio commitment to hygiene. The equipment appeared clean and well-maintained, and disposable gloves were worn and changed between clients, adhering to strict sanitation protocols.
Overall, I highly recommend Lili’s waxing studio, as I was referred from another client who loves this place for waxing and all other services. The combination of a clean environment, skilled technicians, and excellent customer service makes it a top choice in the area. I love supporting small businesses, thank you for this great experience will be sending all of my...
Read moreBRING SHALU BACK! Went to get a wax yesterday and it was my first time seeing the lady who serviced me. I don’t even like to see new people at my favorite spots because they never provide the exact services. This lady rushed, I had to double check to make sure she removed ALL my hair. She said she couldn’t take some out because it was “too short” but when I told her maybe it’s because the wax wasn’t hot enough it was taken off. She definitely didn’t make sure the wax wasn’t hot enough throughout the process. Then when she finished my back side, she only applied baby oil to my back side and not the front. How are you going to miss the front? That’s the most important part like how can you possibly “forget” to apply oil in that area.. straight bullshit. With shalu, I’ve never had one issue with her service. She worked fast enough but didn’t rush, ensured she didn’t miss any hairs, always asked if the wax was hot enough or too hot, waxed more areas (as they should) and good customer service. Whenever I seen her, I knew I was going to get a good wax. I’m sad that she moved away and only comes about...
