NJ to Flushing Travelogue: An Incomplete Summary (Primarily a Food Report)

A super tiny Shanghainese noodle shop located inside a Chinatown style mall. They offer a large selection of noodles soups and other items such as fried dumplings. When you do locate this small narrow Chinatown style mall, you'll walk in and the second or third shop to the right is this hidden gem. Just a few random old tables and stools. A bit on the filthier side. But this is how most of the restaurants look like in China. I've come multiple times and I've tried the duck noodle soup, the fried and steamed dumplings. Their prices are super low and the foods here are delicious if you're a fan of this kind of cuisine. I will be coming back for more.

I came here for lunch once, ordered the traditional Duck Vermicelli, was pleasantly surprised by the amount of duck and fried tofu for the price. Sadly this still doesn’t compare to the real Duck Vermicelli I grew up eating in China. Since they leave the skin on the duck and also do not premarinate the duck, the flavor profile is just very greasy but not very salty.

I stopped by for dinner a second time to try other menu items. The Spicy Beef Dry Pot was a very pleasant experience! I ordered a small, and the portion size is enough for 2 people to share. The platter is huge and comes with a medley of vegetables along with thin slices of beef brisket marinated in hot chili oil and other spices. I loved the lotus root. Comes with a bowl of white rice! Extremely fragrant so be sure to savor it while it’s hot. FYI, this place...

I really love street food. The run down neighborhood look and the shacks next to shacks of stores full of Made in China products remind me of my childhood.

Food here is cheap and great. It honestly is one of the cheaper places to each in Flushing.

I love the $4 dumplings. It's pretty basic, nothing that puts it over the top, however I really enjoy their soup dumplings. It's not fancy, but it certainly hits the spot.

The lack of space and the dingyness of the place is off putting for some people but I'm more simplistic and less about aesthetics.

If you're looking for some good chepa food with a terrible view of Flushing I would recommend. Otherwise, you're better off going to a prettier establishment with a...

It's not the first time I've had Yozi, I first had it at the New World Mall... . I believe they are known for their offal noodle soup, and offal is not for everyone. It is totally my kind of jam.. . I thought the noodle soup was ok, the liver was a bit dry though. Good flavor but dry. . They give you a lot of the gizzard and blood, but it's a pretty simple soup overall. Nothing overpowering, and since I can't eat spicy, I can only eat it as it. The broth is very milky... . Got the 1/4 smoked duck, it wasn't bad honestly. It wasn't too salty... . The scallion mixed oil noodle was good, it's not a big portion, but good enough for someone who isn't very hungry and it's...
