Gourmet Lunch — Restaurant in Newark

Updated review I go to both of the side-by-side businesses here at least once weekly.

As a Dominican, I'm uniquely qualifed to say that Maria's cooking is phenomenal. These ladies treat you like family and it comes through in flavor! (This is the side under the "Gourmet" sign). There's always a spread of options, with more to choose from the earlier in the lunch hour you go.

The more classic American fare is on the right - the door under the "Lunch" side of the restaurant signage. Their menu is extensive, they're fast, affordable, and the food never disappoints.

This place is frequented by folks in Newark City Hall and the Municipal Court down the street.

Been living in the area for 6 years and honestly always just walked past this place thinking it's small they probably have nothing but boy was I wrong me and my husband wanted something different and decided to go in and ask for a menu and seen the food in the trays and could smell all the amazingness of the food lol and didn't even look at the menu and immediately decided to get a platter and I must say we been missing out the food was so good I ate half and ate the rest for lunch the next day and I'm not big on leftovers or reheating food but it was still as good as the day before if not better .. amazing keep it up ladies and the workers are very...

Gourmet Lunch is amazing! Please go in to the door on the left "Gourmet". Maria makes the best food, and it is fresh every day. The menu changes depending on what she has, so you can call ahead if you would like to know. She usually has meat, chicken, 3 types of rice, plantains, vegetables, beans, and sometimes shrimp. I'm sure the side selections may change during the seasons. The meat is so tender, and the chicken so flavorful. Maria and group are so sweet and genuine too.
