Good beer, bourbon and bartenders. Well, I’m a little biased on the bartender part… because I work here part-time haha! I’m here a lot on Whiskey Wednesdays (where select 2oz pours are only $5), so stop in and see me! It’s a great place to stop before a movie at the AMC. I also love their garage doors that open to the rest of the Levee when it’s nice out!
My favorite beer is the Last Night is a Bit Hazy, a New England IPA. I also like the Desert First, Winter Ale and Pumpkin Ale — which are seasonal.
They have a really good selection of bourbon and other drinks, especially for a brewery.
Food items include things like pretzels and beer cheese, brisket/pork/chicken quesadillas, Cajun snack mix and more. It’s all done by Beards & Bellies BBQ. They have their own restaurant at the York Street location.
Speaking of that… please note!! There’s two locations, and they’re pretty close to each other. The other one is on York Street (also in Newport). That does seem to confuse a lot of people. The one on York is where they do the brewing. They also have a taproom and Beards &...
Read moreMy friend and I were so excited to explore the levee this evening, we love ciders so why not see what the Wooden Cask has to offer? The place was cute and we were full of excitement coming in. We weren’t greeted, at all. There was one other couple present. The bartender made eye contact with us and continued her convo with the couple prolonged. 4 mins later of us sitting at the bar, she informed us that they were going to be closing at 11. It was 20 after 10, so nice info. But very dry and unwelcoming. We asked her about the cider and about the seltzers on display; like if they were good or popular. She shrugged and said she didn’t know. Ask for our IDs as if she was certain we wouldn’t be drinking. We tried to ask about the brewery and other restaurants on the levee, to which she answered she didn’t know again. After our cider sample we left. So uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and awkward. Maybe she just was...
Read moreMy friend and I were not greeted when we first entered even though there were only two other people at the bar. The bartender looked at us like we did not belong there and acted like it. I asked about the row of seltzers that were sitting on the bar literally in front of her but she said she didn’t know much about them because people come there for beer since they are a brewery. We asked to sample one beer and she reminded us that they close at 11 but there are other bars near here that are opened later. Personally I didn’t like the sample so we just ended up going to another bar. Best decision of the night! Giving one star because her suggestion to go somewhere else was the best part of...
