Brown Cup Cafe & Lounge — Restaurant in Oceanside

It’s sad that I have to write this review, I’m not usually the type to write reviews but I was shocked what happened to me and my boyfriend. The first time we ever walked in here it was amazing and I was telling my boyfriend how much I enjoyed this place. We got a coffee to try since we are still new to the area and wanted to try out this coffee place, I even tipped the women who was at the register. Today we walked in and were denied service, I’m unsure why since the first time we came was a good experience the lady who takes orders told us “ I don’t like that you guys got a coffee and stayed a long time” she basically was telling us we couldn’t sit and enjoy ourselves while we drink coffee here, this made me sad because the last time we were there we were comfortable that’s why we stayed to enjoy ourselves. It’s sad that we can’t do that now, but I would rather go somewhere that we could study, while drinking our coffee without having any problems. I’m not sure why this happened to us and I’m not sure if anyone else went through this but just warning you, if you are somebody who likes to study and have coffee. I’m not sure she will let you stay. I hope this gets better here because it’s a nice place and I liked it at first, I’m sad I even have to write this. But it’s good to share this to others so that everyone can know what happened to us. And I hope it doesn’t happen to...

Raja and Veeli run a top notch establishment here on coast highway. Let me tell you why.

Ambiance - you literally feel like your sitting in a cozy living room while drinking your cup of _. Perfect for some friendly dialogue or even studying for your classes. The tone is that people can have conversations and it doesn’t seem to disrupt the overall vibe in the spot.

Nitro Brew. (I prefer the ICED) - they actually have nitro brew coffee here that tastes DELICIOUS... like ZOMG delicious. I get one every time i come here (ask Raja!) not to mention their coffee actually tastes like coffee... and not like burnt water you might find at a corporate establishment (I won’t name names because I don’t want to buck the stars... ;)

Chocolate Chip cookies - if you like treats, you gotta try one of the homemade daily chocolate chip cookies... simply amazeballs... it’s hard when I’m training for a competition and i have to look but not buy! But I’m my off season, I always pick one up!

Quick sandwiches- a wide variety of sandwiches from cold to warm... all prepared fresh and not just re-heated in a microwave...

I was disappointed because this place was recommended to me. I ordered the breakfast sandwich thinking it would be great to have a bodega style sandwich that was cheap and easy near me. It was listed as “starting at $3.50” and then had pick three next to it. They then proceeded to charge me an extra $2 for two tiny very thin slices of ham, another $2 for egg and another $1.25 for a tiny portion of avocado. Luckily the sourdough was not an up charge. The ham had a weird sour taste that I first attributed to the sourdough, once I figured it out I didn’t finish it. Worst $9 breakfast sandwich. Just be upfront with the price and have the options listed. I also expect when I’m paying $2 for an add on that it’s not just thin pieces of deli ham or the tiniest slivers of avocado. We also ordered a bagel with cream cheese which was barely toasted, and a latte and a mocha. My husband drank his latte but it was really watery. I had a few sips of my mocha before I just tossed it. Super disappointing experience. I actually liked the kinda dated furniture that was in the store but was so put off by everything else...
