My buddy and I traverse southern California, Nevada and Arizona selling steak, chicken and seafood off a truck. Aloong the way we hit every dive bar, greasy spoon and unique habadashery we can find, I enjoy sharing them with you. I have been keepng an eye on this place for months waiting for it to open so I could give a try; it has been open for a month and today I dropped in and it was so worth the wait. It is located in downtown oceanside sandwiched in between Handels ice cream and the iconic Oceanside cafe,Swami's. parking is going to be hard to come by you may need to park a block or two away but Oceanside is a great walking city and a brisk walk before and after a meal isn't a bad idea. The place is neat and clean, brightly lit with interesting artwork and a great vibe. If you are visiting from out of town, hit this spot for lunch to fuel your evinings adventure. If you live here drop in with a friend to enjoy a bear and burger while you catch up on old times. A 10/10 burger is the holy grail of my blog, a 6/10 is a fantastic burger. (five Guys is a 5/10) I ordered the Cosmo burger, a draft Salty Crew lager, the truffle fries and had tiramisu for dessert. The fries were absolutely out of this world and worth dropping in for on their own right, dessert finished it all off right but this is about the burger. The burger patty is a low pressure formed ground serloin, if break off a piece and taste it by itself it tastes like high quality serloin steak, if that doesn't make your mouth water it should. A generous slice of melted cheddar cheese, carmalized onoins on a brioche bun. The Cosmos sauce was interesting, it was tangy and sweet and really meshed with the grilled onions; funny i am salivaing recalling it while I write. Over all: It is hands down the best burger in downtown Oceanside, I will return and i will send family and friends, and I would recomend you try one. It is...
Read moreI recently heard about Downtown Oceanside's newest burger joint and I decided to give Cosmos Burger & Beer a try. They are conveniently located on N Coast Hwy right near the heart of all the action.
The interior is small, but can seat couples and a few groups and they also have "bar seating" and a few chairs facing outside to catch some people-watching. The interior decor is colorful, trendy and hip and has many callbacks to Oceanside, so I can see them trying to fit-in and win the hearts of the local community.
Their menu has a variety of burgers, fries, beers, lemonade, kombucha and they even have an artisan hotdog; with everything being under $16.
NOTE Although there is no Kids Menu, if you ask, they have food options & portions for kids.
I enjoyed my Spicy Jam Burger, which wasn't too hot and very delicious. I was informed by the owner that they make every patty using the brisket meat of the beef. This helps to retain all the flavor in every bite.
I also enjoyed my truffle fries and they were seasoned perfectly. I highly recommend these.
Their monkey fries were also pretty tasty too.
The magic really happened with their truffle honey chicken tenders and I would order these again & again! They were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
I didn't try their beers, but I REALLY enjoyed their housemade lavender-lemonade and hibiscus-lemonade.
Although I didn't care much for their tiramasu (it was the soggy texture), I enjoyed everything else I ate.
Overall, because their price-point, I can appreciate COSMOS Burgers & Beer and consider them a nice addition to the downtown...
Read moreDuring our recent visit, Dave, the person who took our order, messed up both my order and my brother-in-law's. When we approached him to discuss the mistakes, he responded unprofessionally, making sarcastic comments, ignoring us, and telling me, “I don’t need your explanations,” when I tried to clarify what was wrong with the orders.
We had driven from Chula Vista (about a 45-minute drive) because my first visit to this restaurant was amazing; the food was excellent, the place was nice, and the service was great. I recommended it to my brother-in-law and his family, hoping they would have a similar experience. Unfortunately, it seemed like Dave was having a bad day and showed a lack of respect for the customers.
Fortunately, Tom, another staff member, later came to our table to check if we were okay and if we needed anything. I asked for Dave's name, and Tom immediately apologized. It became clear that this wasn’t the first time Dave had given customers a hard time. I briefly explained the situation to Tom, who couldn’t apologize enough, even though he wasn’t responsible. He also offered us dessert as a courtesy, which was a kind gesture that showed his strong customer service skills.
I believe our experience would have been much different if Tom had assisted us from the beginning. Overall, while the restaurant has excellent service thanks to Tom, I recommend avoiding Dave to prevent an unpleasant experience like ours. I hope the owner or store manager sees this feedback, addresses the incident, and provides Dave with the training he...
