My wife works with mentally handicapped individuals. During the farmers market this Thursday she took one of her students into this shop for a break from the noise and commotion outside. You see, with some neurodivergent individuals, loud and fast paced environments are detrimental to their well-being.
Shortly after they took a seat Elena approached her and told her she needed to leave and that “He (the student) was not welcome here” My wife immediately apologized and said she would make a purchase from the establishment so they could stay. Elena’s response was that my wife could buy food but still would need to leave. My wife collected the young man and began to leave the store. Elena seemed displeased by the speed at which they were leaving and stood by the door, arms folded across her chest, to watch them leave.
