The Original Kebab — Restaurant in Oceanside

The Original Kebab is Oceanside’s premier Mediterranean food spot that has a great selection kebabs, shawarma, gyros, salads and more!

Located right on N Coast Hwy, this new establishment is small family-owned and the owner has been mastering his recipes for over 20 years.

Although they are clean inside, because the interior is rather small and basic, this is not the best place to bring groups to sit down and eat. There’s a counter to order and then a crammed space for small tables with limited seating options. Also, there isn’t any interior decor or ambiance that resonates to the cultural essence of the food. Lastly, there’s no dedicated parking lot, so you’ll have to rely on street parking.

Where The Original Kebab shines is their friendly & gracious customer service and the quality of their food. Their portions are fair and although their pricing may seem on the higher side, they are a standard for a small business trying to survive in Downtown Oceanside and more importantly, the food portions are worth it.

After sitting in for a few hours, I witnessed the few people that ate inside having complimented the staff on having the best gyro meat they’ve ever had. Each portion is sizeable and they even seem to be popular for their gyro wraps or sandwiches (I witnessed many do take-out orders).

Overall, I loved the gyro plate that I had and the cucumbers with the rice and gyro meat was tasty.

I look forward to trying more from this small business and I think that The Original Kebab is a great addition to the Downtown...

This place is what Oceanside has been needing for decades. We had the sampler plate with Chechen and Beef Shawarma along with Gyros. Both Shawarmas were EXCEPTIONAL! They were both fresh, succulent and flavorful (I will likely get the chicken again as it slightly nudged out the beef). The salad, pickles and cured cabbage and rice were all delicious. The Gyros was Gryos, no complaints.

In addition to the meat plate we had a falafel platter. I am thrilled to report that they fried the falafel to order. They came out hot, fresh and moist. All of the food was freshly prepared including their sauces. The pita was fresh and pillowy. They threw in a sample of their hummus which was absolute perfection.

The service COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER. These guys are there to please. This place will definitely be added to our regular rotation. Looking forward to trying their kabab and working my way through the...

My fiance & I have been excited for them to open ever since we saw their kebab sign up while in the area about 6 months ago. We finally got to try The Original Kebab today- we will definitely be back! The staff was very friendly/ attentive & we felt welcomed & appreciated. The beef shawarma plate that we shared was presented beautifully & tasted amazing! Everything was very fresh. Food was prepared incredibly quickly right in front of us too. I wish I took a photo of how nice the plate looked, but we dug in way too quickly. We also tried the falafel with some hummus & those were delicious as well. I was full almost all day from the generous portions even though we both shared the plate. I can't wait to go back to try more of...
