...when I took a bite of the crabpuff and it was still frozen in the middle, I decided at that point, it was time to go.
I am a big firearms, and John Browning fan. My family drove very far to go to the Browning museum. When we got to Ogden we were hungry. The little Chinese cafe was a welcome sight. My 3 year old boy loved the fish tank, and the prices seems pretty decent. I thought we had hit gold. Well after a good 15 minuets sitting there wondering if we were going to have time to see the museum afterward someone came to take our drink order. Unfortunately with the fact that the woman was shouting "drink" and wasn't even looking at us as she did it, I failed to realize that she was asking what we wanted to drink. At that point my wife was ready to go, but I wanted to give the place a chance. We sat a good while longer and a young man, considerably nicer, came to take our order. I was reassured, he seemed like he actually cared. I ordered our lunch and some crab-puffs, as my little boy loves them. Not long after that, the puffs came. I started ripping them apart for my son only to think to myself, they seem a little cold in the middle. I grabbed one for myself and when I took a bite of the crabpuff and it was still frozen in the middle, I decided at that point, it was time to go.
The train and Browning museum are awesome, very highly recommended, but you should be sure to eat elsewhere...
Read moreWe love Maple Garden. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is so tranquil. It is a truly magical experience for me to sit in a historic train station in a former western frontier town while dining on the best Chinese food that I believe our state has to offer, especially when the silhouette of a long line of boxcars silently and slowly drifs by against a sunset backdrop. I know that sounds like a little much for a restaurant review, but it sincerely describes how I feel and what I experience when I go to my favorite restaurant, Maple Garden.
Also, I must say, the more time you take to really get to know the restaurant's owner and menu, the more and more wonderful you find them both to be.
This is the first Google Review I have ever posted, and there is no other place I would have it be for. I felt it necessary to finally post a review because I saw some negative reviews that absolutely do not paint an accurate picture of this place.
Truthfully, I want to keep Maple Garden a secret that I can selfishly reserve for myself, but I'm choosing to share the beauty of this place instead. Maple Garden should be enjoyed by all who love great food served in a serene atmosphere, but I hope there will still always be a table open...
Read moreThe service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. There was another party ahead of us when we arrived. I told the owner there were three in my party. She barely acknowledged me, didn't look up from what she was doing and simply said it would be a few minutes. Then the seater skipped over us and took back a party of two that came in behind us. Then we were told it would be about a twenty minute wait. So we sat there until she told us to follow her about twenty five minutes later. By the time my elderly parents were able to get up and start walking, she ditched us into the dining room. By the time we got to the table, the server looked kind of annoyed. As my parents started to seat themselves the server came over and asked for our drink order. My mother was barely sat and my father stood there awkwardly with his coat half off as the server looked at him impatiently for the drink order. It was basic hand-off service the rest of the time. The drinks were flat and food underwhelming. We were stoked for this restaurant to be back and I was excited to share a new experience there with my parents as we did all the time years ago. Sadly this will be the one and final time. Thoroughly...
