Wow⦠when this bar was the lighthouse it was such a great dive bar. Just the right amount of campy feel, bartenders that knew/liked what they were doing, cheap pitchers of beer, fried everything on the menu. A genuine dive bar. The change here ultimately is the price! There absolutely no pitchers of beer, no ice cold glasses, and even worse, PBR (not my drink of choice) is approximately 6-7$???? Thereās pretty much no deals, on food or drink during the week. No events during the week. Now, understandably, there has been struggle with the new owners due to gossip and the internet presence of the new owners taking on a life of its own⦠these things have nothing to do with the bartenders that have tried to help cultivate the atmosphere of the past. (Jill Dawson). But the food quality, change/reduction of the menu, and the PRICES, change my mind about this place entirely. October 9th: $19.61 September 25th: $20.61 September 23rd: $27.73 Vs. Lighthouse lounge July 26th: 16.00 July 25th: 15.00 July 10th: 12.00
And mind you, drink of choice is miller light⦠This has never changed. The receipts here is for 2 people, with a split bill! (Obviously we need to leave out the judgment over the consumption amount! :) ) I often wonder the reason for the jump is due to the ārenovationsā? Which I admit are nice⦠but the red light has ultimately suffered. Some of the regulars that I had come to know from the light house have disappeared. The times from previous days, heading in after work, on a wing Wednesday are long gone. The people and bar banter replaced by more T.V.s, and tables with a lot of empty chairs. Barren and a stark difference of the atmosphere of f the past. Now, I understand that this had been a place of music and were artists gathered⦠I donāt know enough of that aspect to comment. But it truly benefits a place to be welcoming, and for the people. Things seemed to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas hesitant in going since the remodeling and new owners not a fan of 25th street and when I do go itās to city club but was going out with some buddies of mine who wanted to get out and drink dance and have a good time with good vibes. They kept insisting we go check out Latino night with Dj ghost and some new āHOTā bartender theyāve been seeing all over social media at the old lighthouse lounge now known as The Red light bar. Again not my scene so I was hesitant and thought as long as I show face for a few minutes they couldnāt be mad when I suggested a new place, right? WRONG!!! Man oh man as soon as I walked in and seen this beauty behind the bar with a smile so welcoming there was no getting me to leave šš it was love at first Site. She helped us right away engaged in conversation, joked around with us and made sure we were happy with our drinks and service ! I wouldnāt have ever guessed she was new! The place itself was nice, It was packed, there were no fights nothing ghetto about it, the Dj was going for it playing nothing but good music everyone was dancing laughing and have a awesome night nobody wanted it to end! The other workers were great too. It was definitely a good vibe! Keep that new bartender as the first one you see when you enter and you wonāt have anything to worry about! Me and my buddies will definitely be back this weekend. Weāre all hoping to see her again and if anyone runs into her before I do ask her if she will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOdd little place. I look at the people around me and they appear to be having a great time. I look more closely and notice that half of them aren't drinking. They're bouncing around to the fun and charismatic hometown cover band, UnSupervised, and they're acting like they're drinking, i.e. running into people, being sloppy, party hardy, etc. But it's just that; an act. These people aren't allowed to drink, but they're apparently compelled to act like they're drunk. Why? To fit in? Whatever. It sets up a weird vibe, if you're sensitive to such things. It feels fake, because in a sense it is. But in another sense, if you were to ask any of them about their night, they would probably tell you they're having a great time. And they are, I think, or so it appears. So I would never stand in their way. I'm just an observer. An observer who is not originally from Utah, who is not a member of these people's circle. I know what partying is, and I know a replica when I see it. But again, the general vibe is good time happiness, and that's a positive. Drinks are weak, just like every Utah bar with those stupid flow meters. Not a demerit for Lighthouse. It's governed by the same people who are there on the dance floor, acting happy and sloppy, but not drinking. The building and atmosphere feel good. Go there. Have fun. Be yourself. Nobody's...
