I haven't been to Dave and Busters in a long time. And when the boss decided to take us there for dinner. I got excited. Boy, was i let down. First, let's talk about the food. The quality and taste have dropped significantly. I have had military rations with more flavor. And the wings were overcooked and like runner. Even the salad had no flavor. Now the service.... we had a waiter that it didn't feel like he could handle more than two people at a time. The way it worked was he came and he started with drinks and there were 10 of us there. He would take the orders for two people's drinks, and then he would disappear. It would be quite some time before he returned and then he would only take two people's orders and as we started to get obviously frustrated at him continuously disappearing one of the people in our party simply asked him why aren't you just staying to take everybody's order? To which this gentleman had no answer , he simply disappeared again. After a while of this back and forth, one of the managers stopped by to ask us if we needed anything. To which we answered that we needed more drinks and we would like to order some more food. We also let him know that we were unhappy with our current server, to which he answered that he was unable to take orders and that he would get our server right away. I don't understand this at all. I have never come across a restaurant where management couldn't do things that the servers could do. I've also never come across any service related industry where management had the audacity to ask us if we needed anything and then proceeded to tell us that he couldn't get us anything... like that just doesn't make sense to me. Why even ask in the first place? Now, at this point, because we had complained to management about our server, we could surely would have gotten a different server, correct? NOPE! We kept the same overwhelmed and probably untrained waiter. Finally the owner of our company pulled the waiter asside and I explained that this was completely unacceptable, and then we got a different waiter. I will say that our second waiter was an improvement. However, we could never find him when we wanted to wave him down. I have a feeling that he was being pulled from a different section in order to help us out. However, I will say that he did come around more frequently and was a lot more thorough and making sure that we all had our needs taken care of when he was there. Now let's talk about the atmosphere. The interior was under construction, which I understand is just part of business and staying up to date. But it was still an eyesore and. From what I remember on the last time I was at Dave & Buster's, they did a fairly good job of separating the game noise from the dining room. However, on this 5 game room was so loud that we even had to raise our voices in the dining room to be able to hear each other speaking to one another at the same table.
I have never in my life given any restaurant a one-star because I know people work hard and even though I may not like something does not mean that people aren't doing their best. I can 100% say in this case nobody that we encountered at Dave & Buster's this day was doing their best management was dismissive the server was not prepared for a table of our size let alone a lunch rush on a weekday. I also do not feel that the kitchen staff was performing at their best level because I'm not sure how you can make sliders and flatbread taste...
Read moreLet’s start by saying my family hasn’t been to Dave and Busters for a long time. We decided to go on Father’s Day. I called to ask if we needed reservations. The girl on the phone said they do not take reservations on weekends and it’s been kinda of slow anyways. My family of 6 adults heads down to eat first. It wasn’t crazy busy inside but there was a moderate amount of people there. We walk up to the hostess booth where a young man and woman are standing. No one greets us, or even makes direct eye contact. After a while I just say Party of six. The hostess slowly turns her head maybe annoyed, I don’t know, and looks at her coworker. He slowly turns his head and looks at her. They do this for what seems like eternity. No one speaks. I have to ask what’s wrong to get them to say anything. At this point it’s already weird for me. She’s says I need three of your party to be seated. Confused I say what. She keeps repeating it without clarifying. I say do you mean you can only seat 3. She’s just keeps it on repeat. Not once does she or her coworker ask if my entire party is with me, which they were. That weirdness goes on for a while before her male coworker speaks and figures out we’re all there he partly says something about confusion, and even then it was awkward. She walks us back to a table that was uncleaned. She grabs a rag, cleans the table and we finally got to sit. When I say it took forever just to put our drink order in, I’m not lying. A camera man popped up who was super nice but we did have a language barrier issue a bit. I thought he was taking pictures for the D&B web pages, nope turns out it was a sales pitch. I felt bad so I ended up buying one. The pictures were taken, printed and on our table long before the drink order was even taken. We watched the hostess we had issues with early trudge everyone to their seats long after us. It took quite a long time for someone to place our food order as well. The appetizer came out quick, but our food orders took a bit longer. I can say the portion size is not what it used to be back in the day. I even said, to my husband let’s share a plate because back in the day I could never finish my plate. My parents even shared a plate for the same reason. I swear on everything they served us the kids portion because there is no way. When the plates came out we were like where is the rest. Lol. I guess the kicker is the added gratuity of $10 which wouldn’t have been an issue if the whole experience was smooth from start to finish. Afterwards we headed to the arcade and had a good time over there. I wish the whole experience was nice, because Dave and Busters was my husbands first date 24 years ago at the Orange location. Yesterday was just...
Read moreI am writing to formally express my disappointment and frustration regarding my visit to Dave & Buster’s in Ontario, California, on 3/26/25. I arrived at around 11:30 AM with my five nieces and nephews and initially purchased $156 worth of tokens plus a $5 tip at the front for a total of $161. While my family enjoyed the arcade, I went to the bar area to order food for everyone.
Unfortunately, I waited several minutes before being acknowledged by any member of your staff. Once a waiter did approach me (around 12:15 PM), I ordered food, drinks, and tipped an additional $5, bringing this bill to $79.97. After placing my order, I experienced a prolonged wait with no updates, and patrons who arrived after me received their food first. Despite my best efforts to get an update from the staff, I felt ignored and had no explanation or ETA for the delay.
40 minutes after I first placed the order, I realized I would soon need to leave for work. Meanwhile, my nieces and nephews had been there since 11:30 AM, had not eaten breakfast, and were getting quite hungry. I requested a refund since our meals still had not arrived. Regrettably, they told me they had to get a manager and it took the manager more than 15 minutes to come to my table, and then an additional 15 minutes in the back to process a partial refund. When I received this partial refund, I was shocked to see it only covered $57.62 for the food—without the cost of the drinks ($17.35) and tip ($5). I requested these be refunded as well, and the manager disappeared again for another eight minutes.
By the time all refunds were finally issued, it was 1:24 PM, and we had been waiting well over an hour and twenty minutes without any food. The manager did eventually apologize after waiting on him for 38 minutes, but my family and I were already frustrated and hungry. We were not offered any additional consideration or compensation for the inconvenience and wasted time. To add to my concerns, the refund receipt states “Refunded to MC ending in XXXX,” which does not match the final digits of my card.
Overall, this experience was deeply disappointing. Not only did I lose valuable time with my family, but I left hungry, frustrated, and feeling that my concerns were not handled with urgency or care. I am requesting a formal acknowledgment of this incident and a clear explanation regarding your refund process (especially the discrepancy in card numbers). Additionally, I would appreciate any consideration you can provide to address the inconvenience and frustration that we experienced on this visit.
