Boteco Restaurant — Restaurant in Orlando

After my brazilian friend recommended we went to Boteco to check it out the brazilian taste. We are a big fan of brazilian food so we went into 4 people and one baby for lunch. 2 people were vegetarian in the table, when looking at the menu you have no options for vegetarian people. That was only cheese ball as an entree and yucca. (That was a hair inside my cheeseball) That's gross. I don't know if its done in the house, or if they do order for someone else, but it should have a better handling. When asked the waitress/waiter for any changes on the plate, to get yuca, or a salad instead of meat, or fish, we thought we are having a good deal since they would be "adjusting" their menu since that wasn't no vegetarian options. When the plates came, at first 3 plates, it was fish and meat and parmegiana for my friends and the baby and then other 2 vegetarian plates after 45 minutes difference, our friends had finished their food when our plates arrived. Besides all the long wait, you would certainly notice the miserable presentation plus the food wasn't hot. That was rice, beans, seven mixed leaves, no kidding you could count them, ONE HUGE slice of tomato and a sparkle of carrots aside that was a portion of Yucca. We got 3 juices, and 2 beers, then for desert, we've ordered 2 flans (pudim) and one petit gateu as well. I never seen such a poor presentation. I'm not picky and wasn't expecting a 5 star dining experience but it was very disappointed to see the way they handle, like they're obligated to do something for you, not like you're paying for it which by the way it's no cheap. I've been into many brazilian places before in Orlando. It was just a nightmare. When we ask for the check, every single part of the plate has been charged separately making the vegetarian plate costs over $25.- each. While the fish and meat went for $18.- For rice, beans, this miserable salad and yuca as a side. Our bill was $183.- for all this mess. Even if we go FOGO DE CHAO we wouldn't have spent that much and had all this long wait in between the plates besides the quality. When you go out for lunch or dinner, with friends, you expect at least, to eat all together. But that didn't happened this time. I wouldn't recommend this place. Attention was good with waitress and waiter, but terrible service in the kitchen and management after all.

A place to be avoided. This establishment is a lie. I will start with the different prices they charge you comparing to the ones on the menu. They say this is a credit card fee and if we want to the prices showing on the menu, we must pay cash. This is insane. I don’t care if there is a credit card fee or not. Prices must be final. Saying there is a tiny note on the menu and at the door saying about this 4% fee over regular prices doesn’t make any better. They charged us for cover fee. We arrived at the establishment 2 hours before the singer started to play. We were seated outside and far away from any entertainment. We never meant to go to this restaurant to listen music but to drink and to eat. We were never told about any cover fee. If this is a practice every Friday, it should be mentioned when we got there. My wife arrived just 30 minutes before we leave and she was also charged for this cover fee. This is an absurd. When we got there, we were told kids eat for free when ordering kids menu. They had chicken nuggets with fries as one of the options, we ordered just fries and to our Suprisse, they charged us for the fries by saying just fries was not at the menu. It makes no sense. Including 18% TIP in the check for parties with less than 6 people is against the LAW. Not giving the chance to clients to choose the amount to be tipped is totally wrong. I am not saying the server didn’t deserve the tip, but the practice of not giving us the option is unacceptable. I am not complaining about the money spent or some extra dollars included in the bill but for the horrible behavior from management. As a local Brazilian living in town for almost 10 years, I have visited countless restaurants, and I can tell places like that don’t last long.
