Despite being severely understaffed, I had a feeling that the food would be worth the wait. Surprisingly the food came out relatively fast despite the short staff. There was a wonderful Egyptian waitress who was doing her best to wait an (initially) packed restaurant during rush hour traffic. She was incredibly sweet, and took our orders.
The restaurant decor was extremely plain, and appeared to be a repurposed lobby of some form of business space. But while its ambience seemed a little out of place for a restaurant, it absolutely did not ruin the experience at all.
I ate tabouli and the hummus & chicken platter. Now I'm used to greek and lebanese hummus, not Egyptian hummus. Egyptian hummus contains an ingredient called sumac, traditional to Egypt, but tastes extremely unfamiliar to those familiar to greek or Lebanese hummus. Do not expect greek or lebanese hummus flavors. Perhaps this is the most surprising part of the flavors I did not particularly like, but a little tahini helped the flavor quite a bit (which is itself an ingredient of hummus).
The chicken schwarma itself was extremely juicy and tender, and had a very wonderful caramelization on the outside.
The tabouli was not the best I've ever had, but it was pretty decent. I suppose again the main thing I didn't like is the cultural difference from the lebanese tabouli I am more used to.
I tried the falafel off of my family, and it was definitely very crunchy and soft, and everything else my family ate was delicious.
Funnily enough we were about to go to an overpriced kosher restaurant--before realizing they were closed for Sabbat. We came here as a happy accident, and I couldn't be more happier we all somehow simultaneously forgot the Sabbat, and ended up here instead. The prices here were very reasonable, and the food was absolutely worth the price. I very much will be...
Read moreWe visited Daood Basha Cuisine as a family and were truly impressed. The atmosphere is cozy and modern: soft sofas, elegant marble tables, and stylish lighting fixtures create a spacious and welcoming vibe. Even when the restaurant is full, it still feels comfortable and relaxed. The interior has subtle Middle Eastern touches with framed photos on the walls and warm lighting, which adds to the calm and inviting ambiance.
The food was outstanding. We ordered a mixed grill platter with kebabs, hummus with pita, and a fresh salad. The meat was juicy, well-grilled, and full of authentic spices without being overwhelming. We especially loved the chicken kebab and the lamb kofta — tender, smoky, and served over fragrant rice with vegetables and creamy sauces. The hummus was smooth, rich, and perfectly seasoned with olive oil, while the warm pita bread complemented it beautifully. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the yogurt drink (Ayran) was refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal.
Another highlight was the portion sizes — they are very generous. This is the perfect place for families or groups of friends to order a few dishes and share. Prices are also reasonable for the quality you get (around $10–$20 per dish), and the service is friendly and attentive. The staff were happy to recommend dishes and served everything with a smile.
Overall, Daood Basha Cuisine is a place we definitely want to return to: delicious Middle Eastern food, big portions, fresh ingredients, clean and stylish interior, and a warm atmosphere. A great spot for both family dinners and gatherings with friends....
Read moreMe and my wife went to Daood Basha after shopping at the outlets. We wanted Middle Eastern food and saw it was near the outlets.
We sat at a table with couches which was very comfortable. It wasn’t crowded and the restaurant combined old world looks with pictures on the walls with modern decor which we liked.
We ordered the hummus, beef kofkta sandwich, grilled chicken salad, and a side of rice. The hummus had a light flavor with oil, 4 pickle slices and a few tomato slices. It was amazing! We love hummus and eat various recipes from different countries and this hummus was great!
My wife received her salad which included a generous portion of chicken, pickled cabbage, and onions. She was very happy especially when they brought over extra dressing. The side of rice was an amazing yellow rice that had a flavor we could not pinpoint and was pleasantly surprised when we learned there is a hint of cinnamon. It was a very subtle taste that added to the completely of the rice.
I had the koftka sandwich with fries. This had also a very nice taste that I ate very quickly. It was not overly spicy as we have had at other places and I finished it along with the freshly cooked fries which were very thick cut and freshly made.
We finished dinner with tea that hit the spot! The taste was a very soft, (I drink tea with no sugar). I thought it was going to be strong due to the color and was pleasantly surprised when I found the opposite.
Overall the staff, the food, and the ambiance were great! We want to try more of the menu and will do so in the coming weeks with friends. I highly...
