We were in Orlando for Megacon this weekend and arrived pretty late in the evening. We decided to walk from our Hotel to a restaurant at the end of the block. As we passed by the steakhouse to our left, our noses started to tingle. My partner and I decided to "follow our noses" instead of going to the originally planned Restaurant.
As we approached Halal Food Express, we started to taste the food in the back of our throats before we entered. The smell of the genuine Gyro meat made out mouths water.
We entered and ordered two Gyro's (one with out tomatoes!). I usually do not like to eat out, especially when I have a hotel to go too. However, the atmosphere was peaceful so we sat and ate. I spoke to the Gentleman behind the counter (the owner I believe) and asked him about the sign on his wall.
He explained what it meant to me, which put the paintings on the wall into perspective. I promised the Gentleman that we would try our best to get back there before we left town. Sadly, things did not turn out the way we wished, and I was unable to return.
The food was amazing (I don't write reviews, I believe this is my first one actually), so good I'm writing this. The staff was even better. Having a very stressful day end with good company, great atmosphere, and amazing food, was the perfect start to a chaotic trip.
Since this is rarely brought up, I will say that we did not finish all of our food. So, naturally, we brought it back to the hotel to eat the next day. My partner ran off to do the con thing with some friends so I heated mine up and consumed it far quicker than I thought I would. After I ate mine, I reheated hers and hate hers as well (I DID get into trouble for that =) ). To me, food needs to be good at the reheat as well, and these Gyro's were by far the best fresh ones we've ever ate, and almost as important as that, it was as if it was just made on the reheat.
Next years con, we've already made the plan to stop by at least once to have another two Gyro's. Highly looking forward to returning!
p.s. Ask about the writing...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic restaurant and I can't stop raving about their amazing food! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service.
Let's start with the pizza. Oh my goodness, it was absolutely divine! The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and delightfully fluffy on the inside. Topped with a generous amount of gooey cheese and a variety of fresh, flavorful toppings, each bite was a burst of culinary delight. It's safe to say that this pizza easily ranks among the best I've ever had!
Now, let's talk about the chicken shawarma. Prepare your taste buds for an explosion of Middle Eastern flavors! The tender, succulent chicken was marinated to perfection, resulting in a harmonious blend of spices that danced on my tongue. The accompanying veggies and sauces were fresh, adding an extra layer of deliciousness. This shawarma is a true masterpiece!
Lastly, the mix chicken platter. It was a carnivore's dream come true! The platter consisted of a mouthwatering combination of grilled chicken pieces, each one more juicy and flavorful than the last. The variety of seasonings used elevated the taste and left me craving for more. It's a perfect option for those who want to try a little bit of everything.
The quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail in every dish truly set this restaurant apart. The ambiance was cozy, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. The prices were reasonable, considering the exceptional quality and portion sizes.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving pizza, chicken shawarma, or a mix chicken platter. You won't be disappointed! I cannot wait to return and indulge in their incredible...
Read moreI used to eat at this place a lot! About 4-5 years ago... Came in again today to Orlando.. and went straight to this restaurant. I was TOTALLY shocked. The food quality sucked... Just like the other reviews mentioned the gyros seemed like they were straight from prepackaged horrible tasting.. probably the worst gyro I've ever had! Mind you there is a poster there saying the world's best gyro! I so wanted to cross the best and write WORST!
The pepperoni Pizza was... Aghhhh. Again the worst pepperoni pizza I've ever had! It felt like a proven Walmart pizza with slices of pepperoni just slapped on the top.. but the base was disgusting! And to top it off... It was 22.99!!! Never seen a pizza this expensive..! Even high end restaurants don't have such expensive pizzas!
Yo top it all off, they charge a, I believe, 10% service charge to dine! Again.. even fine dining doesn't charge that! And this place has leakage stains on the ceiling! And BTW they don't offer any service.. when the food is ready they call you to pick it up! They don't even bring it to the table... Not sure what the service charge is for.. and I did not see a sign anywhere saying that there is a 10% service charge or something of that nature..
The icing on the cake is that he doesn't even give you a receipt so you don't even know what he charges you for! Simply crumples it and throws it away without even asking you if you want it or not!
I'm done... This place lost me as a customer.. I would visit this place every time I visit Orlando.. multiple times.. sometimes even multiple consecutive days! But that's it... I'm never eating here again... Sorry... Don't normally leave negative feedback for anyone... But I was VERY VERY...
