We arrived at the restaurant at approx. 4:45 and entered, no one to greet us and absolutely no other customers in the restaurant. I raised my voice a few times saying HELLO and still no one. Only after about 5 minutes and me walking further into the restaurant and raising my voice did someone finally come. We asked why we were the only ones in the restaurant and if they were open. The person said yes, we are open and that they had just finished their lunch rush that ended at 3:00 - OK! I paid for the 2 of us for the buffet and proceeded to find a table. The fountain drink was serve yourself and the dispenser was not providing ice. We took two drinks without ice and proceeded to grab a salad from the all you can eat salad bar. There was a good variety of salad toppings but found the trays that are furthest from you kind of hard to get at with the glass in the way. Lucky I have long arms but I could see a problem with customers with shorter arms or younger teens, kids not being able to get to some of those vegetables or toppings. There was a good choice of the most popular salad dressing but I just like balsamic vinaigrette with a bit of oil. This was available but I did find that the balsamic vinaigrette seemed to be watered down - maybe that was just me. On my way back to the table with my salad I got the attention of a worker from the back since there were none near the food or cash and mentioned that the ice was not coming out of the fountain drink dispenser. Someone quickly went to fix the problem and ice was soon available. There was a good variety of pasta and the same person that took payment at the cash was the one reheating the pasta of your choice with the sauce of your liking. Remember to take any vegetables and/or toppings you would like cooked with your pasta and sauce before going to the pasta bar (onions, red peppers, etc.). They also have 4 choices of soup, I did not have any but my wife did have a small bowl and she liked it. They had pizza as well but we found that it was all left over pieces from their lunch menu at first. Only when we were almost done eating and a few more customers arrived did they bring some fresh pizza out and threw out the old remaining pizza from the lunch serving. The fresh pizza was delicious, we each had one piece. Desert - not really allot of choice (jello, cookies, brownie, etc) but there is a sign there that says free ice cream - just ask for it. The same guy that cooked the pasta came over, (I only did see 3 staff in the restaurant during our entire time there and that was for dinner) and I asked him for ice cream. He asked if I liked the service and the food, I of course responded that it was good. He said that in order to get free ice cream or an ice cream bar I would have to submit a restaurant review and show him that I had done so! I simply told him I was not ready to leave a review right at this moment just to get an ice cream. He said OK, and walked away. I just took a few variety of very small 1/2 shot glasses of deserts (whip cream with chocolate pudding, whip cream with lemon, butterscotch, etc… not really allot of choices like I said previously. My wife was really not impressed with the whole experience. We are still on the lookout for a replacement restaurant to the now closed chain once called “Sweet Tomatoes”. Oh, how we miss that chain across the USA - it was one of our favorites for salad bars and soups. This restaurant obviously was not it. I don’t think we will be returning to Oreganatta based on this first experience. Staff were friendly but you had to find them if you needed anything (ice dispenser, pepper, butter for the bread - got this liquid butter instead of a solid piece of butter) kind of below average service. Price was reasonable but expected a bit more satisfaction than what walked away with. Still, try it and leave your own review, maybe it was just a one off experience for us and you might enjoy your...
Read moreIm not sure why there is any positive buzz online about this place. Please don't waste your time. Pizza is like cardboard, no flavor, pasta is just sitting there half dried up. The "creamy alfredo" was soo watered down. All the sauces looked like they have been sitting all day. Sure they take the pasta and sauce of your choosing and toss it in a pan a bit, how else are they going to pass that dried up pasta as fresh. Everything from the salad bar, besides lettuce and onions, came from a can. The beats were grey... Half the restaurant was warm. There were dead bugs on the tables.
An employee grabbed a cookie from the dessert bar, right in front of me and 2 other employees just standing there talking, with her bare hands. She tried to do it quickly so I wouldnt see her. Tried to be slick. She then went on her break eating the cookie as she passed right by me. Then sat at the table next to us watching videos with the volume all the way up.
The decor looks like someone went garage sale hopping and collected random things to put on the walls. The beverages were some off brand stuff that looked creamy in the cup and the ice machine wasn't working. We honestly didn't even try to finish. We walked out. I wouldnt be surprised if the health inspector closed that place down soon. We ended up going to Cicis Pizza up the same street. WAAAYYYYY better experience and cheaper too. Only paid 10.99 per adult and 6.99 for child. Please just go straight to Cicis. Save your money and your time.
In response to the owner, it seems like some further training is needed for your employees. I understand trying to save face for your company, but I call it like I see it. I added Cicis so people know there are better options out there. I do not now nor have I ever had an affiliation with Cicis. I just know what's worth people's time and money. There is always room for improvement. Instead of flat out calling me a liar maybe take a walk through and see what can be improved. Not sure where your manager was that day but the red headed employee didn't seem to care about the volume of her phone. We even had to change tables. Then there was another employee walking round with a fishing rod and his stuff in the dinning area. It's just so strange. Seems like employees don't have their own area.
It never bodes well for a company when they are so combative with customers leaving reviews of the quality of the establishment. There have been other comments similar to mine and have also been called liars by the owner or management. Im sure I wont be the last. I'm curious what the ratings would look like if so many people didnt have to leave a good review in order to get ice cream. Good luck with your...
Read moreFirst of all, if there was a choice for no star, that's what I would have chosen for a rating. We drove over an hour to this place. It was a total disappointment. When we arrived around 1pm there were no cars in the parking lot, except for probably one of the two employees. That should have been our clue to not even enter. However, we were hungry, so we took the chance. The place was empty. My husband and I paid for our meals and started making our selections. The salad bar was first. There were quite a few salad topping choices, but none looked appealing because they looked old and soggy and nothing Italian. I only picked one topping. My husband skipped the salad bar. Next was the soups. They looked too watery so we skipped the soups. Then we came to the pasta bar. You can't get your own. There were 4 different types of pasta that were in trays with ice cubes to keep it cold. The sauces were marinara, Alfredo, mac n cheese, etc. So you have to tell the server which pasta and which sauce you want. She places a small amount of pasta and a ladle of sauce into a skillet and heats it about a minute and asks if you want to add garlic and cheese and hands over the dish. My husband got the marinara. He took one bite and said it tasted bad. So he asked for another plate of plain pasta with butter and oil. She heated it less than a minute. He ended up eating it cold anyways because the was fed up. Then the pizza! It looked like it was a few days old. All dried up. I took a slice but only ate one bite. There were warm bread rolls but no butter to put on them . The rolls were heavy and looked uncooked inside. That was it for food choices. Only pasta and pizza for an Italian buffet? We've had buffet type dinners at our family get togethers that required two large tables for all the choices we had and that was not counting desserts! And as for the desserts they had this tray of tiny shot containers (looked like the medicine cups you get with cough syrup) with pudding & whipped creme and some dry cookies probably from Aldi's. I just basically filled up on maybe 10 of the shot cups of pudding. There was no coffee available of course. Golden Corral has more Italian selections than this place. While we were there another couple came in and that's when the employees decided to put some fresh frozen pizzas in the oven. Also about the atmosphere, there was no decor resembling an Italian style restaurant. I hope people who go here don't think this is what real Italian food is like, it's nowhere near it at all. In summary, if you know anything about Italian food you would not want to return to this place. It's...
