I ate here twice with family and I’m not at all dissatisfied with everything there. I love how the menu is divided into the various stages of a flight (takeoff, cruising altitude, etc.), and that they symbolized the stages of a fancy dinner: the appetizers, the main course, including the entrees and the side dishes, as well as the drinks, and finally the dessert. Just like the Islands Dining Room nearby, the fans on the ceiling looked like sea shells! At this great restaurant, I ordered the shrimp macaroni and cheese, which came with bacon bits, as well as vegetables, and a super creamy and delicious sauce! As a side dish, I ordered the garlic mashed potatoes, which, just like the sauce on the pasta I had, tasted super creamy and so delicious. As a drink, I ordered a large coke! It’s a meal to die for!😌😁😵😇 For dessert, I had, a massive chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting on top of it! However, I could not finish it, since I had a big meal before it. As an appetizer, I ordered the barbecue buffalo wings, which came with ranch dressing, making the taste of them extra toothsome! What I especially love about this place is that every night at 7:30 P.M., there is a musician who gets up on the stage near the entrance of the restaurant, and performs live music, containing cover songs of summertime hits from the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s! This concert goes on for about an hour. Each time, he ends a song, most people in the diner applaud moderately and the musician thanks the audiences for enjoying his great music! The waiter is quite friendly and also made sure that we were having a superb dining experience! When we we completely done with everything, the waiter grabbed the check and wished us a great rest if our night! AWESOME...
Read moreI don't even know where to start. Jake's ranks in my top 5 worst restaurant experiences of all time. While there were some slightly redeeming elements, overall the experience was below poor and I will never be going back.
We were seated immediately in a dark, carpeted room -- that plainly brought about memories of a nice senior living facility -- off the main bar and sitting area in what could optimistically be called a half-full restaurant. It was about 5 minutes before we got water, around 15-20 minutes before our order was taken, and easily an hour before our entrees arrived -- lukewarm.
Two of us ordered burgers but had our orders wrong, and both of our burgers (ordered medium) were cooked to death. I had sweet potato fries but they were chewy from skins being left on and undercooked, plus oily to boot.
During the interminable wait for food, runners had no clue where food went and tried to deliver us other people's food two different times.
There was a live musician in a separate room who wasn't completely terrible, but when he wasn't performing there was no music or ambiance whatsoever, further reminding me of a nursing home.
The service staff wasn't terrible but was incredibly lackluster, with our server visiting our table a total of four or five times over the course of two looong hours. Also, I understand this is a hotel restaurant in a Universal Orlando on-site hotel, but even so the food was way overpriced. You could get better food and better service literally anywhere in Citywalk or in the parks themselves for less.
The cocktails and pretzel rods appetizer were easily the best parts of the entire visit, and the best I can say for them is they...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to eat at Jake’s our last day at Loews Royal Pacific, but really regretted that decision the moment we were sat down. The service was very disappointing, the main reason being we were rushed to order by the time water was brought to the table. There was no inquiry on what drinks we wanted or appetizers we might would like, but straight to what entrees did we want to order. I kind of had to insert what drinks we wanted and an appetizer so our server got the point of we did not want to be rushed, but that did not stop him. As soon as the crawfish chowder was brought to the table, which was pretty good, he asked again what we wanted to eat. I had to pick up my appetizer to look at the menu and pick an entree so he would quit pestering about it.
Furthermore, once the entrees were brought out, we saw him once until he brought the bill. Did not receive any refills on drinks, did not ask if we needed anything for our meals, and did not ask about the possibility of a dessert. He came straight to the table with the bill, which really further validated my perception of him wanting us in and out.
Lastly, he seemed very hesitant to accept my season pass holder card for our discount. Just did not really make much sense to me. Overall was a bad experience and will not be returning. Hopefully they get these things corrected with the staff if they want to continue to stay at a premier resort and charge the...
