If only 0 stars was an option. Whole experience was awful. My family has NEVER experienced this type of restaurant. We knew it would be a different experience and we’re okay with that as it was something new. We told hostess it was our first time, and our server. We were told to pick our soup base and to go to the food bar. And that the bbq plate would be turned on to cook food. Not much else. So we were quite clueless on what exactly we were doing and it had to have been obivious to everyone that looked at us. I am pretty sure we cooked everything wrong. All over our noodles turned to mush. The seafood we chose was pure mush. At one point during the dinner, the sauce pot my 10 year old was using popped and the base in the pot splattered all over my son and myself. My son was hit in his face and chest(it could be seen all over his shirt) and arm. My hand, face and arm was hit, as well as the booth seat. We notified the server as soon as we saw her. The server told us she would get a manager. A woman came over (at time we did not even know it was the manager) and told us that because we did not constantly stir the base and a mussel shell was left in it was why it popped on us. (Uhh okay?) not exactly sure how that works but okay. Nothing more said or asked. And she walked away with the pot. Very little instruction given on how to experience restaurant the correct way. When we received our check, we went to the hostess to request a manager and explain that our experience was awful. The hostess informed us she was a manager, and she told us what we should have done. We again tried to explain our child was burned by the liquid popping from the sauce pot due to lack of instructions. The manager asked with an eye roll and snarky attitude “do you not cook at home? When something gets hot do you not turn it down” I walked away at this point mind blown that this was what we received I. Response. We were NEVER told we needed to control the burner heat or anything of that nature. The pure lack of concern for my child and ignorance was completely baffling. When my husband asked to speak to someone above her we were told no one else was above her. After arguing with my husband she “I will only remove the child meal” we were never once trying to get a free meal, we travel often and eat out frequently, always tipping well, as our family has worked in and owned restaurants in the past. Our biggest issue was with the lack of instruction on how to do things properly in this atmosphere. And concern over child being burned due to lack of instruction given. I do not recommend this place to anyone wishing to experience something new. The music was also so loud you had to yell across the table for person with you to hear. Hopefully you enjoy loud pop music if you ignore this review. Zero hospitality...
Read moreI was in the area on vacation with a friend and we wanted to try something different than our normal spots by the theme parks for dinner. We found this place on Google and decided to give it a try. I think the deciding factor on trying this place was the fact that it is off of Universal property but it's still very close by so you don't have to go far to find something a little bit more reasonably priced. When we got there it looked decently busy but not crowded by any means so there was no wait for us and we were seated right away. Our server Cheney wasted no time in greeting us and was very patient and helpful in explaining how everything works especially because this was my friend's first time at a place like this. Here you have the option to do either hot pot, Korean BBQ, or you can do both for an additional $5.00. We did both and we are so glad we did. Here you order your hot pot broth with your server and they turn on your grill and give you foil and butter for the bbq. All of your meats, veggies, noodles, etc are at a buffet which you go and grab on your own. There was a great selection to choose from and their sauce bar was well stocked also. You can tell all of their ingredients and sauces are fresh. For drinks my friend ordered a diet coke and I ordered a peach green tea from their menu of fruit teas. I had the option to add boba or jelly to it but I decided not to. The peach green tea was so good! You can really taste the peach and there was fruit at the bottom which I really enjoyed. For our first hot pot broth we both had the house original broth which is a chicken and beef base. It was nice and had a good but mild flavor. For my second broth I ordered the Tom Yum which was so flavorful and rich. The Tom Yum was definitely my favorite of the two that I tried. When we did the BBQ we tried the spicy, some marinated chicken, and both the garlic shrimp and spicy shrimp. Everything was good but the garlic shrimp was my favorite. The spicy marinade that was used on the beef and shrimp was a nice tangy flavor and there was only a tiny bit of heat. Our whole experience was great! This is now my new favorite place for hot pot and BBQ. I can't...
Read moreWe are what you might call regulars at another volcano, hot pot location and it was recently suggested to us to try this location and we were happy to do so. It was exciting to see that it is brand new and beautifully decorated with many LED lights and moving screens. They even have a robot to seat you. And it seemed that their bar was larger than the other location, however, it was missing one or two items. We enjoy such as the coconut milk type dessert, etc. I think that’s just comfort for us. Although the music was entirely too loud. It made me uncomfortable. I did mention it to a server however, I don’t think she understood me, or maybe heard me? I like hearing music while I eat but I also like to be able to hear my companion across the table and I would like for my server to be able to hear me. There was more than one instance where she couldn’t. I also am one of those people that doesn’t like the server to cook my food. I come to a hot pot and barbecue restaurant to do that myself. I think that is the point of the restaurant. I only eat certain items, and I only eat them in certain ways. And I do understand there is a time limit and I take that into consideration. I do not utilize a sauce bar as much as my husband does, and he noted that the bar at this location is slightly smaller with less options than the other location. I did like the addition of hot appetizers to enjoy as my food is cooking, however, these were not hot. It may have been they would be produced faster when the restaurant is busier, but as I experienced them, they were old and cold. And I did overhear another table that was confused about how things worked and what they could order. It is my opinion that you make it hard for people when you ask them immediately do you want hot pot and barbecue or both and make them decide before being seated and things being explained to them. You don’t ask “is this your first time“. And it leads to confusion. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone wanting to try a hot pot. However, the other location by old town is my favorite and better in my opinion. Maybe I will try this one again to see if things get better. Thank you...
