Coyote Ugly Saloon — Restaurant in Panama City Beach

First, I’d like to start off with saying the bartenders are absolutely amazing and friendly

Second, the bouncer’s and the lady cop there tonight (Wednesday, 7/16/2026) were ridiculous and in the wrong.

Let me preface this by saying we’re not from an area with a coyote ugly around and we’re not aware of the rules.

Our friend walked outside to his car, my other friend and I walked outside to get him. When we left the bar, my friend had a WATER in his hand and specifically asked the bouncer working if he was allowed to take it out and back in, he was told yes, I was told I had to keep my alcohol drink inside. That’s fine, I left my drink with my other friends that were still inside

What happened next is when it went wrong.

My friend was on the bar patio, I had taken a sip of MY DRINK that she was holding for me, WHILE I WAS WAITING IN LINE, LISTENING TO THE BOUNCERS. A bouncer with a red hair and a red beard came out and SNATCHED the drink out of my friends hand (who was inside the bar). Didn’t say anything like “hey you guys can’t do that I need to take your drink,” NO, just SNATCHED the drink (and then made me pay for it). And THEN came outside and told my friend who had WATER (that the bouncer told him he could take) and told him he had to leave the property. The bouncer then proceeded to tell a lady cop that we were “drinking outside” (the lady cop words btw), as if we were in the parking lot taking shots. Mind you, we are ALL over 21 and not from Florida, we wouldn’t do anything to get ourselves in trouble.

My friend with the water then tried explaining to the red hair bartender how the bouncer said we were allowed to take it out, and then he tried to arrest my friend. The lady cop then proceeded to pull her handcuffs out my friends WHEN THEY WERE WALKING TO THE CAR.

NEXT, I told the manager that my tab was open, he tried to close it for me (he was not causing any issues) but it did not close due to “fraud.” We were walking to the car and the owner and the cop stopped us from driving and told me they needed to talk to me. I then proceed to come inside and I was able to close it.

This was the end of an experience to say the least. The bouncers and the female cop were absolutely overly aggressive for no reason towards my friends.

The female cop then proceeded to ask the manager if he wanted us trespassed off the property (mind you, the bouncer SNATCHED our drink, but okay, we’re the problem?)

Yes, we talked back to try and explain our side, but we did nothing illegal. Can’t forget about when my friends were walking back to the car and the female cop pulled her cuffs out on them WALKING TO THE CAR (yes they were talking, but the cop walked up to them).

Absolutely ridiculous, they can pull camera footage and see this is exactly what happened.

Bartenders were 10/10 Bouncers...

This was my first time visiting Coyote Ugly Saloon in Panama City Beach with my sister and friend—and we had an absolute blast! The crowd had a wide range of ages, but everyone blended together so effortlessly. The energy was fun, inclusive, and unforgettable.

We met so many great people and made memories that will stick with us forever. I’m so glad we had the chance to stop in and experience it for ourselves. Can’t wait to come back in the future!

We originally planned to go on a Saturday night, but the line was very long, so we decided to come back on Sunday instead. That turned out to be a great choice—there was no line and we were able to get in quickly and start enjoying the night right away.

That said, I’d recommend a few things to keep in mind if you’re planning a visit. I had read in other reviews that parking can be tricky—some people have had their cars towed, so make sure you're in a safe and designated area. I also noticed mentions of inconsistencies with cover charges—both whether it’s charged and how much—so be prepared for that.

As for drinks, I didn’t drink much myself, but my friends were given a shot for dancing on the bar and said it was pretty weak. I’ve seen that echoed in a few reviews, so it may be a common experience. While our interaction with the staff was fine, some reviews mentioned rude behavior from certain staff members, so experiences may vary.

Another thing I saw in several reviews was complaints about the bathrooms being nasty. However, that wasn’t my experience.

I have never dreamed that after watching the "Coyote Ugly" movie when I was 26 I was gonna attend the bar when I was 47. In fact, I never knew Coyote Ugly was a real bar. But here I am, standing in one of the locations of the bar that inspired the movie that I liked so much, emotional but excited, not knowing what to order as I'm not an usual bar attendee. Next minute I was holding whatever drink i decided to order and enjoying the greatest atmosphere of my life. It was a extraordinary experience for me, although I felt a little out of the place surrounded by that young crowd. Don't get me wrong, nothing and nobody made me feel that way, only my self consciousness. The staff was so nice and helpful and the crowd was so fun to watch. We even encountered a few different people that wanted to get us to join them in their dancing, no lie. Incredible experience, once again, without exaggeration at all.
