Perfection. This is the adjective to describe our dining experience last night at Kiddo. From A-to-Z, everything was thought out and delivered In such an elegant manner in this neighborhood gem at 12th and Pine.. This will be our go to favorite restaurant to friends and family! First of all, I want to say that, although the lighting is on the dark side, just use your flashlight from your cell phone and enjoy the solitude and peace of the serene setting the subtle lighting brings. Also an important point is that the music is background music and elegant. That means you can have a conversation with your friends that you haven't seen for a year and enjoy the evening, instead of yelling over the bartenders choice, that is forced down your throat to listen to in most places. We were greeted by Sabrina their hostess with a beautiful smile and twinkly eyes who is genuinely kind. Alex the bartender has put together an incredible specialty cocktail list and Corwynne, an inspiring actor and filmmaker who was our waitress was so lovely with her effervescent smile that she made us feel special. And now to chef Wyatt and his menu. This is by far the most innovative menu we have seen from this promising, chef in the history of Philadelphia restaurants! He is bound for a James Beard award someday. We started out with homemade Terra chips served with a phenomenal hummus to dip them in, followed by gem salads that were so light and delicious, we wanted to order four more! The dressing was perfect – and this is often the barometer for me for a good restaurant. 👍 We all ordered bucatini pasta. My friend had the one with spicy peppers – and it was spicy and delicious – and the rest of us ordered the night special, which had a wonderful roasted cauliflower pesto. Wyatt's handmade bucatini is the best I've ever had in the world! Even better than what you would find in Italy! It is cooked el dente-and the luscious big holes that are inside the design of the noodle hold his delectable sauce magnificently. I was thinking that I would try to have leftovers for my lunch today, but I just couldn't resist eating every single noodle… And had to resist not taking my finger to wipe the plate clean of the superb sauce. The final jewel in this amazing crown of a perfect meal was his homemade apple pie. The crust was light and crispy, able to hold his perfectly seasoned apples with creme en glase on top. I am still dreaming about this experience. I want to thank everyone at Kiddo w enlightening our lives with literally one of the best meals I've ever had in my life! We have lived in Philadelphia for over 50 years and have seen the Restaurant Renaissance evolve over the last five decades, and this restaurant is by far one of the best we have ever dined in, and we wish them all the best of continued success for decades to come! If you haven't eaten here before go, go go as fast as you can and make a reservation because you won't regret it! Bravo to the superb team at Kiddo!!! Keep up the...

We came on a Friday night during our visit to Philly and sat at the bar. The vibes were great - the lighting, music, service, and beautiful decor were all on point. The bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable of the drinks and the entire menu, which they said changes frequently based on what is fresh and in season.
We had several dishes to share, along with a round of yummy cocktails and wine. The goat cheese fritters were little melt in your mouth clouds of deliciousness, with an amazing black pepper and pear jam. I wish I had a vat of this jam .. The Brussels were fresh, seasonal, and cooked to perfection. The mushroom fondue had the rich flavors of a French onion soup, with a perfectly poached egg atop. Dipping the house made sourdough bread in this creation was chefs kiss. I will be dreaming of the bucatini - the sauce was fresh and flavorful and the mushrooms were savory and smoky; a perfect balance. We all agreed that the pork chop was the best we have ever had. It was juicy and flavorful, with a delicious glaze on the outside. The salad with this dish was also spot on, with crunchy roasted hazelnuts, pears, and shaved brussels. The flavors went so well together.
Dessert arrived and we dug in too quickly - forgot to take pictures unfortunately. The cookie plate was such a fun concept; we tried and loved all 4 of the different cookies. The apple pie zeppolis were out of this world. Such a fun take on this dessert and paired with the homemade vanilla ice cream, it was really over the top. We enjoyed espressos and coffees with our dessert, it was the perfect way to end our meal at Kiddo.
We’ll be back soon for more food, drinks and laughs. Can’t wait to check out the...
Read moreI wish I could write a good review of the dinner I had here this past Friday, but my friend and I were shocked to have been treated as rudely and unprofessionally as we were at Kiddo. We had 6pm dinner reservations and we ordered cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and even a bottle of wine. Everything was going well up until this point, but about 7:25pm we were presented with the dessert menu. We told our server that we simply wanted to finish our bottle of wine and wouldn't be ordering anything else. We only had about one glass left each. A few minutes later, our server tells us that other people are waiting for our table and asked if we could finish our wine at the bar. We were so shocked that we agreed out of politeness, which in hindsight I regret. Having moved to the bar, the staff there were very confused and the realization of what just happened began to sink in. We had only been at our table for 1.5 hours, which is nothing unusual. We were not lingering for a long time or being stingy about what we ordered. I don't know if this was a booking error or not, but it certainly wasn't our fault, and we didn't deserve to be inconvenienced. We were presented with two small digestifs, but they were not to our liking and hardly a suitable way of apologizing. From a hospitality perspective, asking us to move should have been unthinkable. Or at the very least, it should have been handled with far more grace and gratitude on Kiddo's part. From our perspective, it felt very abrupt and rude, and tarnished what was otherwise an...
