Thus club has the seating packed so tightly, I had to straddle another man for the first part of the show in order to be facing the stage and not turn my neck 90 degrees to the left for the entire show... i had never met him before and to his credit he was pretty gracious about the situation (I dont think he had much more room to move or say in the manner than I did)... but after a few minutes of me riding him in the middle of the showroom, I got up and asked for a different seat.
The hosts first repeatedly told me very clearly that were absolutely no seats available.. Basically telling me get back there and giddy up.
After I asked for a manager to get involved, there were suddenly several seats available (magic!) And They debated which one to put me in.
when I got to my new seat I found I was at a bottleneck in the walkway for the serving staff. Anytime our server wanted to take an order or do anything in the vicinity it took many times longer than it should because the other staff would repeatedly come thru the cramped walkway and make her walk a few feet away so they could walk thru. She would walk away and come back and pick up where she left off, I saw her repeat this process 3x while taking an order for two beers. Pretty distracting for everyone in the area
All this could be solved by taking out some seats in the room. The way we were packed in like sardines in the middle of the room was truly crazy and probably a fire hazard. Take out a row of table and charge 5% more for the comics that are going to sell out, you wont even lose money and your customers wont have to straddle strangers to watch the show.
At the cost of that man wondering why I was touching his buttocks for 10 minutes you guys made a few more percent on that night, i hope it was worth it for you
FYI fellow consumer my bill was $53 for two well cocktails
I have been to clubs all around this country. you guys have clearly got an efficient, friendly staff and and a great location. But the greed of packing that room like sardines really made that one of the worst experiences I have had at a club. in both locations you seated me
We as customers should be able to buy a ticket to a sold out show and show up at showtime or even a few minutes late without worrying about this or...
Read moreBEWARE OF STAND UP LIVE. They will steal your money. I drove over an hour away to arrive at Stand Up Live at 50 West Jefferson St and arrived at 9pm for a 945pm show. That was 45 minutes before the show started. The line to get into Stand Up Live extended from the entrance, down the stairs, and around to almost out to the street. Due to a medical condition I cannot be on my feet for very long so I went up to the check in area and spoke to the lady taking tickets. I asked if the “VIP” had another option to having to stand in line for so long. She said it did not and I had to get in back of the line. Which I informed her I could not stand that long due to my condition. She was extremely rude and had no concern for my well-being or to accommodate me in any manner. This was the first time I started to question why you term the tickets “VIP” when it clearly does not represent that word in any manner. In order to physically be able to still attend the show I sat right next to the entrance at the Copper Blues (which is apparently also owned by Stand-Up live. Waiting for the line to dissipate to short enough I could enter. By 945pm the line still extended down the stairs. By 10pm there was still a line and paying customers (including myself) were missing the show. The line didn’t end until about 10:30pm. This in itself is unacceptable. Nothing in their terms allows for customers to NOT be able to get into the show due to staff not getting people seated in time. Since the “VIP” tickets are reserved seats (that is what the lady claimed and is on their site when purchasing) I was confident you would have at least saved my two seats. When I went to scan my tickets the lady told me she had sold my tickets to someone else. I was shocked and befuddled that Stand Up live would sell “VIP” tickets for RESERVED seats to new customers. Thanks Stand Up Live for ruining my night and stealing my money. You not only have horrible customer service but outrageous business processes and policies. I HIGHLY recommend other comedy shows in town like Rick Bronson’s, Desert Ridge Improv or JP’s Comedy Club. Unless any of them have...
Read moreIt was our first time going to a live show for a stand-up comedian (other than John Mulaney but he was in an actual theater) at such an intimate venue, so of course I was reading both the Yelp and Google reviews just so I knew what to expect. Long story short, almost every negative review was completely false! The biggest thing that stood out to me was there was no enforcement or even mention by our server or other servers about their "2 drink minimum" policy. The bestie and I both ordered a diet coke and that was all that was said on the drink situation. I ordered the soft pretzel which was super thick and (definitely) soft and the bestie ordered the truffle fries, which she said could have been warmer. Other than that, they weren't bad. The cheese that came with my pretzel was really delicious!
Also another note on how you really have to take the bad reviews with a grain of salt - I read one review where someone never even got their drinks/food for the entire show (or at least something came out within 5 minutes of the show ending). However, this was not the case with us. We sat down and ordered our drinks within the first minute. The drinks came out maybe 2 minutes later, and we ordered our food next... which came out even before the first opener of the show started! We almost wished we had gotten our food a little later LOL.
The service was great, the acts were great. We would definitely see ourselves coming back here again! This was really a great reminder to take all these negative reviews with a grain of salt because anyone can find stuff to complain about.
I mean yeah, they do upcharge you for literally everything but that was the only negative thing I can think of. The seats also weren't as crammed together as other people are making them out to be. Yeah, it was like a cafeteria table with individual seats but just think of it as an intimate venue with a lot of people laughing together, having a good time, and...
