What’s for dinner? 🍽 (Saturday: March 20, 2021)
Surf & turf, roasted brussels sprouts, sautéed mushrooms, potatoes gruyere gratin & cream cornpancetta + I had a bite of the lamb chops & the 40 day dry aged bone-in ribeye 26oz from Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse. Yummy Yum Yum 🗣 🤤 💃🏽
My meal was the surf & turf. It was a filet & twin lobster 🦞 tails!! They were both good sized. The filet had garlic butter on it & seasoned nicely. I preferred it medium. I prefer mine cooked just a tad bit more since it was a little more red in the center than I’d like. However, it’s to be expected from all of the places that I’ve been. I don’t order medium well since it usually turns out to be well done. Considering all of that... it was really good! Tender & tasty!!! 👏🏼 The lobster was bigger than some of the other places that I’ve been. It was tender, it had a sort of sweetness to it (very mild) & it wasn’t chewy!
I absolutely loved the brussel sprouts & I plan to order that again & again & again!!! It had a bacon marmalade that made me feel like I was eating candy! It sounds weird but it was fantastic!!! Very favorable!!👀👌🏼💃🏽🗣
The sautéed mushrooms were also good. It was chewy pieces, seasoned nicely & it paired perfectly with the steak! 🍄 Mushrooms & steak goes hand & hand (for me)!
The potatoes was also tasty. The potatoes hard a nice thickness to it. Cheesy & good. Not to put it down, because it was good....; but, I’ve had better somewhere else (I can’t remember where... maybe Eddie V’s).
The cream corn was creamy goodness. They did a good job! 👏🏼 It reminded me of my mom’s creamed corn. It wasn’t over cooked nor did it have hard pieces scattered throughout.
A friend ordered the lamb chops. She was kind enough to let me have a taste. Boy oh boy... I’m glad that she did! I will get that for myself in the future! It was flavorful, cooked perfectly, seasoned nicely & very tasty!!! Good pick! 🙌🏼
My husband ordered the big boy... the 40 day dry aged bone-in ribeye 26oz. They have one that’s 32 days but the one that he got was a special! It was huge & good!
Bon appétit 😋

Read moreWow! Seasoned steak aromas flowed like fine classical music as we entered this established steak house built with adoringly smudged deep wood, warm leather furnishings, and several active fireplaces. Of course we were seated beneath a raised observation booth nearly atop an arterial service tread way, not far from utilities. Happens all the time as we’re elderly, almost never make reservations (as this time), show we’re not afraid to eat, and dress almost above common for big city couture. This is not a place to wear pinching clothes or uncomfortable shoes as it’s a disservice to distract from the amazing cuisine. Someone should send a memo to the trying-too-hard 40-50 year old Mrs. Frankenstein lookalikes on the arm of his pilling tweed blazer, if not card carrying members of three-muses clubs. Somehow it all fits, for now, as the site is slated for remodeling and is missing vivacious crispness as evidenced with flightless moth silhouettes in huge overhead linen ceiling light shades. Such natural misfortunes cause me to wonder too much about hidden kitchen areas, especially with post-endemic paranoia still just a shy away from anywhere, everywhere. Service was excellent, lovely, polite, conscientious, groomed. Items were impeccably timed and wafted onto the table in Olympic synchronicity, sometimes with a flurry of staff and management, depending on customer party size. Vegetables were prepared to perfection to support the finest entrees ever. That’s right: finest. Just straightforward goodness and no gimmicks or boring trends. Delicately poised sauces, aromas and textures set to genius compatibility. Take your time here. Don’t rush. Light rain was drizzling on the generously wide valet parking entry awning as we departed, essence of poised sauces slowly dissipating, reluctantly. The first time I dropped big bills out-of-area for a meal, the major credit card I used bumped my limit and is still trying to sell me exotic financial instruments. Cannot miss by...

Our experience at Hyde Park North Shore had its ups and downs, but thanks to the amazing manager, Ken, it turned into one of our favorite spots!
We first visited on Valentine’s Day. My boyfriend made a reservation here because his family often goes to the Valencia location and always has a great experience. Unfortunately, that night didn’t go as expected. Service was honestly terrible—we waited way too long for our food, and the two servers didn’t seem to collaborate at all. No one even asked my boyfriend if he wanted another drink. For such an upscale place, with my Japanese Wagyu costing almost $200, it was really disappointing.
But here’s where it changed. As we were leaving, Ken, the main manager, approached us and asked how everything went. I was honest and told him the experience wasn’t great and I didn’t think we’d come back. Ken took it seriously—he gave me his number and even called me later to talk for almost 30 minutes about what went wrong and how they could improve. That level of care is rare! He apologized sincerely, offered us a discount, and promised the next visit would be perfect.
And it was! We went back the next day, and everything was flawless. Our servers, Ryan and Sean, were incredible—they made our night! The food was once again amazing (seriously, the Japanese Wagyu is to die for), and the service was exactly what you’d expect from a high-end steakhouse.
Since then, we’ve been back twice more. Now that we’re staying in downtown, this North Shore location has become our go-to. Ken has done an adorable, perfect job making sure guests are taken care of. I’ve traveled to over 25 countries and dined at plenty of Michelin-starred restaurants, so I know great service when I see it—and Ken delivers.
Highly recommend this place, not just for the amazing food, but because they genuinely care about their guests. Huge thanks to Ken and the whole team—you’ve definitely earned...
