If you walk away with anything, know that THIS PLACE PAYS FOR ITS 5 STAR REVIEWS. The food isn't the worst, but definitely not worth the price. And the service left A LOT to be desired.
I had a group of 4 that walked here from the casino because of the insanely good reviews (1,000+ reviews and nearly a 4.9 star rating? Sounds amazing!). The inside of the restaurant is very sports-bar-y, not a bad thing, but good to be aware of if you are just interested in a chill dinner with friends. We ate outside because of how loud it was inside.
We ordered the artichoke dip as an app. We saw good reviews about the beef dip sandwich, so we wanted to get one of those, 2 poke bowls, and a hot chicken pancake. The waitress then lets us know they are out of the poke bowls and the beef dip. Understandable since we knew Picklesburgh had taken place much earlier that same day so it probably had been busy. We change those 3 orders to an order of wings, a Mediterranean bowl, and a grilled chicken club. We also had a couple of sodas on the table.
The food comes out and the individual who got the Mediterranean bowl is looking at her food and is saying she thinks she got a Mediterranean salad or something since there is no quinoa or garbanzo beans on it which were listed on the menu as being included. We get the server back over and inform her that my friend had ordered the Mediterranean bowl. The server doesn't ask us what's wrong, just says, "that's the Mediterranean bowl". We explain it is missing some pretty key items. The server takes it back to the kitchen. A bit later, an unknown man who I assume might be the manager? or maybe the bartender? gm? Who knows, he never introduced himself. This man comes up with a stack of bills in his hand and says with a blasé attitude they are out of the quinoa and beans for the bowl and asks what the customer would like to happen.
Now, idk, like, right here I started getting frustrated. Could you tell us who you are? Can you at least pretend to be apologetic? can you give us our options? It's putting the problem-solving on the customer which is not comfortable. My friend is a bit confused but asks for a menu to choose something else. Mind you, we all have had our plates of food for the last 5-10 minutes and were waiting for her to get hers. She chooses a salad with grilled chicken. The man leaves the table, no apologies or anything for the trouble. The server comes back and does apologize for the error and it seems like the kitchen did not inform her that the bowl was missing items before she served it. I've worked in kitchens and I get that the communication between front and back of house can sometimes get wonky, but it was a disappointing situation so the apology was appreciated.
At this point, we are now all waiting with 3 plates of food waiting for a salad (presumably on the fly). But for some reason that grilled chicken took another 15+ minutes to get put on that salad and brought to our table. We have now had our meals for about 20 minutes during this hullabaloo. We had started sharing our food with our foodless friend as she waited for her meal. By the time she got her salad, we had been at the restaurant for at least an hour total. Before receiving the salad, my friend says she will just tell them to box it up at this point because it has been so long and was getting late.
The server hands over the salad and as the plate is exchanging hands, my friend asks if she can get it boxed since we are wanting to leave. You'd think they'd box it for her, no, the server proceeds to push the plate towards her and says she will get a box for her and my other friend who had leftovers. 5+ minutes go by and the server comes with 1 box. She says she forgot we needed 2 and disappears for another 5+ minutes. Just super slow service considering how many seats were open and how much they had fumbled the service up to this point. On top of all of this waiting, I didn't get a single refill on my soda during the whole visit. We paid and left annoyed. Do not recommend, you'd be better off...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of trying the adobo chicken tacos at Tom's Watch Bar, and I must say, they completely exceeded my expectations. I owe a big thanks to Jarod for recommending this fantastic dish to me!
First and foremost, the flavor of the adobo chicken was outstanding. The meat was tender, juicy, and packed with a perfect blend of savory and smoky notes. The adobo marinade truly elevated the chicken, imparting a deliciously rich and slightly tangy taste. It was clear that great care had been taken in marinating and cooking the chicken to ensure maximum flavor and tenderness.
The tacos were beautifully presented, with warm, soft tortillas serving as the perfect vessel for the succulent adobo chicken. The combination of textures was delightful, with the tender chicken contrasting nicely with a crunch from the toppings. Speaking of the toppings, they were both generous and well-chosen. The tacos were generously filled, ensuring each bite was satisfyingly packed with flavor. The addition of fresh, crisp lettuce, tangy diced tomatoes, and creamy guacamole created a harmonious balance that truly took this dish to the next level.
I also appreciated the attention to detail in the overall preparation of the tacos. Everything was clearly made with care and precision. From the perfectly grilled tortillas to the generous portion of flavorful chicken, it was evident that Tom's Watch Bar takes great pride in their culinary creations.
Beyond the incredible taste, the adobo chicken tacos offered excellent value for money. The portion size was generous, ensuring I left feeling completely satisfied. Additionally, the price was more than reasonable for the quality and quantity of food provided. It's always a win when you can enjoy a delicious meal without breaking the bank!
Overall, I cannot recommend the adobo chicken tacos at Tom's Watch Bar enough. Thanks to Jarod's recommendation, I discovered a true delight that now holds a special place in my heart - and my taste buds. If you're in the mood for succulent, flavor-packed tacos, head straight to Tom's Watch Bar and give these adobo chicken tacos a try. You won't be...
Read moreWell I can kinda see why this place has such a great rating. Everything was great from the service to the food, then came the bill. I mean we were like the only ones in there which was crazy for Thursday night in a busier downtown area, hostess was seating us and had to make sure they were not closing in a bit. So the prices are a bit much, paid $43 with the tip for one drink and chicken sandwich with tots, $3 more for some cheese sauce bacon and a lil green onion on the tots. A bit steep I'd say... Based on pricing alone I wouldn't be back unfortunately. Price gouging at this point and possibly because we were the only table in there besides someone at the bar. Gotta pay all 15 people standin around doin nothing. Take that back they weren't doing nothing, they were sittin chilling talking to one another having snacks some were having a meal. This place seats what looks like 200 and there's 4 people there on a Thursday night at 7. Was gonna get a pic of the kitchen crew having fun but they saw me. Like I said have to pay the bills somehow and that's how they do it, $43 for a drink and a chicken sandwich with loaded tots and tip is unreal. Back in my day it was called cutting people. Server said they get busier when there's a game usually, well I'd hope so or I don't know how they would even stay open.. Bathrooms should have been super clean and smelled great and they did, good air freshener up in there. Okay so the crazy part is we were walking back to our car and seeing other restaurants and breweries, these places were packed, so I think the locals know...
