YUCK. Not much more I can say to that. Now, I do say that for several different reasons. Let's start with the food....which is the most important thing for any restaurant. Well, it's bad. I ordered garlic naan, butter chicken (which came with rice), and vegetable pokhara for a starter. I dont really have anything complimentary to say on anything unfortunately. The pokhara was pretty basic and served with two sauces on the side. The potatoes in the pokhara looked like someone stole the potatoes out of BW3's and fried them in chickpea batter. It was "ok". Then came the feature of the show, the naan and the butter chicken (with the side of rice). The naan was dull, lacked flavor, was luke and extra spongy. The rice was ok, a bit clumpy in parts but hey....it's rice (although basmati rice should not be clumpy when served properly). Lastly, the butter chicken was absolutely HORRIBLE. It was bland, lacked any hint of spices, and the chicken used was scary to say the least. I found several pieces of un-chewable tendon that I had to pull out of my mouth. I had quite a bit of rice and butter chicken left by the time I called it quits and I didnt even bother to take it with me. On a few small side notes, my pitcher of water had about 4 almost melted ice cubes floating in it so I had to ask the guy to give me more and he gave it back with about 8 ice cubes added in. No big deal but just not a great showing to start. While I was there a group of 3 guys came in and one of them was of Indian descent. He asked to not get rice but instead vegetables or even just cauliflower for his side. He had to explain it about 4 times and finally they just told him that they don't do substitutions and then they made him add it on to his order. Again, pretty poor. No for the coup de gras.....the final price was $20 for what was a very sub-par meal. All in all....wont be going there...
Read moreI dont know if its different in person but this restaurant has two stores on doordash and both scam you out of your money! The last time I ordered this place on doordash it was great and I ordered it via their Blue earth indian ghost kitchen (I used the ghost kitchen instead of india bistro like I usually because the prices on india bistro's section in doordash was around 20 dollars a meal.) and I decided today it would be a great place to recommend my friend to this restaurant to order. Major mistake on my part because apparently they send you 8 ounce containers of food and no the rice is not included like it used to be. 16 dollars worth for a container of food most other indian restaurants put chutney in. When I called and asked what size the containers should be he said "16 ounces" and I told him we received very small containers. He had self confidence to say that "Blue Earth indian is a different company and they make me do that." Even though its the same food and he doesnt have to house such a company....but the truth is he owns the company and is running two doordash stores on doordash with ridiculous portions and prices. Feel free to eat here in person if you like but if hes making these decisions while hiding behind the doordash name for protection then im not sure sure how such dishonesty will show in person.
Its a shame, because the food is wonderful, but ever since the "goan" addition of the name for the restaurant, this place...
Read moreIf you are reading this, I hope you don't make the same mistake as I did. The complaints are pretty much spot on that food does not taste anything like Indian and that they use the same canned tomato gravy for all dishes. After reading the reviews, I tried to be smart and ordered gobi manchurian (how can they add tomato gravy to it right?). But there it was, the canned tomato puree smell. I was disappointed but still looking forward to eating warm food that would also be filling. The dish was horrible, I could not chew the dumplings. I tried to salvage the dish by reheating it at home and also steam cooking but to no use. Either they did not fry the dumplings well or even worse they were using stale food. It was so bad that I had to throw it all away and cook something else at home to satisfy my hunger :| I also ordered mango lassi which was ok. The staff was friendly but that is inconsequential when the primary focus of food quality is pathetic. I don't write reviews that often. But in this case I wanted to go out of the way to ensure no one else faced the same disappointment. I hope this...
