Jersey Mike's Subs — Restaurant in Pleasant Grove

This business location is honestly disgusting. My girlfriend began working here a couple weeks before it opened. I've known quite a few people who worked at this location since then. There are A LOT of things that go on here are unsanitary, and illegal. I can't list all of them because this review would turn into a novel if I did. For starters, they would have my girlfriend come in to work after knowing that she had been vomiting. They advertise starting pay that is around $2 more than they'll give you, and getting a "promised" raise is like pulling teeth. Many areas behind the counter are not cleaned regularly, if at all. Tomatoes are rarely, if ever, sorted. Multiple people have mentioned seeing moldy tomatoes served to customers. They store chemicals on the top shelf which is a huge danger to food safety. Management is a joke. The manager is lazy and disrespectful to his employees. The owner doesn't care about the safety of the public or his employees. His focus only seems to be opening more stores, including out of state stores, which he will be unable to manage in person. They required my roommate, who also worked there, to work while she had chicken pox. There is an immense amount of cross contamination, including touching raw meat and then vegetables with the same gloves. They often dont allow employees on 8 hour shifts to take breaks. They even do this to kids under 18 which is even more illegal. They require employees to work even after their shifts have ended. I have found hair in my food here and they don't require hair nets when they should. They reuse dirty dishes sometimes. They use day old bread for grilled sandwiches. There are no OSHA safety data sheets available to the employees so they can understand what chemicals they are using and how to handle them. They require you to sanitize dishes after showing signs of an allergic reaction to the sanitizer. They don't practice good hand washing. Often times, temperatures on food products aren't checked, and if they are bad temps, they will write a false number down to save face. The manager asks his employees to lie about temps so they don't get shut down by the health department and the manager gets his bonuses. They also don't make an effort to correct the temperature, even if it is unsafe. This can cause many food borne illnesses, especially considering that they will continue to use the product the next day. The sanitizer is only changed once a day because it will mess with their chemical budget. Dishes are not cleaned thoroughly. The only part of the soda dispenser that gets cleaned are the nozzles. The meat slicer is not cleaned thoroughly. Gluten free products are not treated differently than gluten products. There are a number of other violations that occur here, and some that I've just plain forgotten about, but I think I've made my point. I won't EVER eat here again. We go to this location often after getting pedicures next door. The last 2 times we have been here, we have received horrible treatment from the same girl. I have never seen someone treat customers this way. I have owned and managed business’ and I would fire my employee if I ever saw them talk to anyone the way we were talked to. I normally don’t leave bad reviews, ever, but this has now happened twice with the same girl. The first time I asked for toppings on my sandwich after she wrapped it up without asking what I wanted on it. She argued with me and after telling her 3 times, she finally opened it back up and slopped some toppings on. When I got home, she had dumped SO much oregano on my sandwich it was not edible. It had spoonfuls of it. I threw the entire sandwich away. And these aren’t cheap. Today, we were again treated very rudely, by Kara. We eventually said something as we were eating, as she was throwing chairs around and slamming the trash cans. We couldn’t even enjoy a conversation and we were the only people in there.
