I searched for places that would be acceptable to bring our dog along and it's great that Inventors Brewpub allows that type of thing on their back patio. However, it was a bit of a runaround to actually get seated in that area. The hostess working that Sunday was, well, awful. My parents had gone inside to ask about seating for the pet friendly area and they were instructed to go out back so they came back out front to relay that information to me as I was waiting there with our dog. We made our way there, found a spot, and then we were told by the same hostess we can't sit there because we aren't on the waiting list. Her demeanor made the whole situation feel like we were disruptive to her work schedule. I guess asking where we can sit as a family with our dog somehow didn't qualify as asking to be seated? After putting in a formal request to get a table we eventually were seated and met our server, who by the way, was exceptional. She was friendly and accommodating even though it was noticeably busy and the kitchen was running behind. We were halfway through our Jumbo Pretzel as a starter when the same hostess came back to the outside area and slammed a reserved sign down on the vacant table next to us as if to mark the area so nobody else would inconvenience her for the remainder of the day. For the life of me, I have no idea how anyone would put someone like that in a position to be the face of your establishment. It's the first interaction as you walk though the door; there must be someone more qualified to greet people than that? I understand that people can have a bad day but there are certain jobs where you need to compartmentalize your problems and leave them at home. Honestly, I can't see myself ever choosing to come here again after experiencing that kind of behavior from a hostess. It tarnished the entire visit. And let me be clear, I'm not one to go around bashing establishments but I felt this circumstance warranted a...
Read moreI wish I could give them "0". Our experience there was horrible. It took 20 minutes to be seated, not a big problem.
The problem started with our wait on our appetizer. The rib cabbage combo came out, dry, semi cold,, and it took 35 minutes from the time we ordered it to hit our table. The server kept giving us assurances that it would be out any minute, and 35 minutes later it finally arrived, dry, cold and nasty. We also talked to other guest waiting forever. One group decided to walk out. We nearly did and I wished we would have.
Finally, an hour and fifteen minutes later, The Poutine arrived. The fries were cold, dark, soggy, and bitter. This tells me as a professional cook the fries were old and that they were also cooked in dirty oil. The fries should have been fresh, crispy, lighter golden brown, and tasty. They were not.
I ordered breaded cod and it was horrible. The breading had no salt, at all. It was hot, dark, proving being overcooked in dirty oil, bitter in flavor, and the fish was so overcooked, that it was dehydrated in the breading, the fish was 1/4 inch thick, while the breading was 1.5 inches thick. The fish was literally floating around in breading. The fries were no better, dark, soggy, bitter and lukewarm. I sent the fish back and refused to have another order made.
Inventors, would have been better off offering me a free gift card for a possible future visit. I probably would have not reviewed them, and given them another chance. I live in Indiana and visit PW often to eat on way to Green Bay. With so many negative stripes and no compensatory gift card for the rotten experience, I'm writing this review, with "0" intentions on returning. I can't comprehend how they have a 4.5 rating with long waiting times,, horrible service, people walking out,, and rotten food. A very...
Read morePosting from more of a customer service and educational aspect since we never did get the chance to enjoy a cold beverage at "CaptainAdam's" establishment. My wife and I strolled in for the first time to check the place out after a long week of rain and basement pumping. Along with us was my wife's 7 lb service dog who accompanies us practically everywhere; legally. He is tucked in a small bag she carries and never ventures out of it unless outside-never a whimper or a bark out of him. We are so blessed he has such a tremendous skill at detecting signs and signals of an upcoming medical episode that he is treated as one of our own children. We were in the bar area for less than 2 minutes checking out the beer menu when we were approached by who I now know was CaptainAdam. He did not introduce himself but simply told us he did not want to be shut down, it was a restaurant, and we needed to leave. Not even a please or hey, order a beer and your more than welcome to take the dog outside. I was really not in the mood to discuss the dogs right to be there due to his demeanor and politely told him I understood and left. To business owners; please read the State Statute and ADA requirements and rules on service animals. They can come in all shapes and sizes and aren't always large and wearing a service vest and harness. Please ask if there is a question. If the animal is disruptive, although true service animals are generally highly trained and are not, the business has every right to ask them to leave. Totally okay with that. For me, I will take my business elsewhere. I gave 1 star because the craft beer menu looked promising. Maybe CaptainAdam should stick to brewing beer and utilize a manager who is more personable when speaking with potential issues...
