I don't know why it took me so long to learn about this patisserie. Actually I know why. Portlands government allowed homeless people to trash downtown and I stopped coming many years ago. I'm happy thought this shop exists and more importantly is openiya decoy location. The ambiance, service and food are 5 stars. My kids loved their raspberry croissant and mango filled square croissant. We are definitely coming back.
P.S. after reading some negative reviews I can say. I was served by a girl who was ok just not that excited to be there and after watching a guy at the register serving a few customers before me I can see a difference. He was exidted, engaging people and talking so positively about products, shop and the shops owner. Without him and just with that girl I can see how those negative reviews about service can come about. This shop comes across as high end so service is expected the same. I...
Read moreAtmosphere: very cute decor inside, love the wedding cake example they have up. Very classy and upscale feel. Servuce: two people were working when we arrived and both were friendly and helpful. Food: we got a large array. The croissant is the best I've ever had, buttery and pillow-soft, with a very flakey outter crisp. The mocha croissant suprême was delicious, and had a double filling with a tasty mocha outter meringue-like coating. The chocolatine was also the best I've ever had with the dough itself having cocoa it seems, and there is plenty of chocolate flavor unlike a traditional pain au chocolat. The vanilla beignet was delicious, and filled to the brim with cream inside. We also got the dulce de leche brownie, pink lady, and hazelnut desserts, and all were delicious and had a great balance of flavor.
Overall this place is a must-visit for dessert and pastry lovers....
Read moreI have been searching in America for the best almond croissant. East, Central, South, and East Coast. Every time there is some stupid TikTok craze that completely ruins the business, you have tourists, influencers, and even annoying wannabes—just taking pictures and being sucked into the continuous wave of social media pollution. This does not mean the bakery is good or even the baker is good at what they do.
I'm happy to announce that if you want to experience a French-style croissant, which I'm reviewing. You have found it. This place correctly double bakes the croissant and has the even butter flow as squish the dough. Thank you! You have mastered it, and this was the next level. Great job, and keep your focus on profits. People will always come back. I will be spending many $8 croissants in the...
