Hmm. Ambiance gets high marks. Intentions of the place where good, how ever if the evening we experienced were to become the norm, the restaurant would fall into trouble. Failure to check back with table and clear table resulted in us having to bus our own tables. And waits of up to 40 min for servers, never were we able to get servers attention without getting up and going to someone else: Usually time between table checks was 20 min. Items supposedly allergen free were delivered with allergens-wait staff was no where to be found when this happened. They were quite kind when found - I think they have potential.

Chicken seemed bland looking and appeared undercooked served at top corn, called sucottash. Of three people at table eating this dish - only one ate the corn. Nothing else served with the chicken, no bread, no salad. The people eating this had traveled and were very hungry - it was a long wait for the food and thus- hard to see that they basically had a kind of weird meal.

The allergen free meal was handled with proper apologies and we received dessert. comped. The desert was the highlight of the dinner - truly lovely.

The main vegetarian meal was a salad which was in the end quite good. It was concerning at first as it was served in a worn tin bowl. It was basically good lettuce and sunflower seeds and a thoughtful dressing but nothing else. The side of olives was good , but the table was left sitting with olive pits for a most of the evening until we took them to the bar with other used dishes. We had to move them to the bar inside.

The restaurant was packed and thus I have to assume they were having an off evening. However as it was meant to be special evening for us, after not seeing each other for many years - I do regret encouraging the party to eat here. We did however succeed in having a good time -the table was lovely, the fire towers kept us warm.

This place appears thoughtful. I think that if they were to add some vegan gluten free options and tend to their service - and make sure the chicken corn thing has a back up vegetable - the would be...

After making a reservation, having the reservation confirmed via email and text we showed up to the restaurant for our meal NYE. My wife noted right away the lack of genuine friendliness from the hostess as we entered. There seemed to be some confusion on our reservation but we were seated anyway. The server was awesome. Very friendly and well versed in the menu. We ordered drinks and food and were enjoying the experience right up until the server approached the table to tell us they had another reservation waiting for that table. At this point, We had just ordered more drinks, had not finished our entrees, discussing desert and had been there about 45 mins. The server suggested he could move us to a different table which was a 2 top in the corner in exchange for a free desert. That way they could accommodate a 4 top at our table. We reluctantly moved tables and I asked to speak to the manager. She explained she was sorry and said we were seated as a walk in. To add insult to injury they did not seat a 4 top but a 2 top in our place. Our reservation was for a table by the fireplace. There was another 2 top table by the fireplace that had just vacated. When I mentioned this to the server he went and told the manager I was not happy. He then returned to tell us they were seating a 6 top at the table we had been moved to, the same table we were told we could take our time at. Never once was there a time limit on the table given and regardless of us having a reservation or not this is unacceptable behavior in a restaurant. It is exceptionally unprofessional and rude to play chess with dinners after they are seated. It completely changed the dynamics, experience and ruined what would have been a good meal out on NYE. I will never frequent your establishment again after this interaction. Let it also be noted that the last time we went there it was the same poor customer service from...

I have been looking for a modern restaurant/bar that has a cozy vibe, specifically, one with a fireplace. It's not easy, so when I came across pictures of this place, I wanted to try it. We've been to Portland multiple times and I always missed an opportunity to visit, until last night. We are in town to celebrate my wife's birthday, so I managed to get a reservation for 9:00 pm. When we arrived, we were immediately seated, and we got to sit right in front of their big fireplace near the entrance. This was the cozy vibe we were looking for. The music was upbeat but chill, and the service was great.

The food menu was not big, but everything on it sounded good. We ordered some the cheese and charcuterie board, Brussels sprouts, half roasted chicken, ribeye kabobs, and the French dip. Everything was AMAZING. Very delicious. The charcuterie board had a great and tasteful variety, the chicken was very tender and juicy, the French dip was delightful, the kabobs grilled perfectly, and the Brussels sprouts.. OMG..bomb. So far, the best I've had in any restaurant. We also ordered their spiced Bundt cake and it was very yummy. What a great way to finish our meal.

Honestly, one of my new favorite spots. The vibe was exactly what we had hoped for, the food exceed our expectations, and the service was great. Overall, a must-try and will continue to try. Perfect for an intimate...

I have been here quite a few times and have continuously been impressed! This may be one of my favorite food spots in Portland. The quality of the food, profile of the flavors, and lovely service is always consistent. The meat, fish, and sides are always cooked to perfection. The menu changes but always delicious! I've had a fantastic steak dish topped with an olive butter, which sounds weird but was so good. I had a salmon dish which upon arrival, appeared a little overcooked. I was so wrong, it was one of the most perfectly cooked pieces of fish I've ever had. Even a simple carrot dish can be a star at this place! The cocktails are great and again the service is fantastic. Strict Covid rules and I appreciate it! Update 5/18/21: The Fireside knocked it out of the park again. Went last night and our table ordered the pork loin, the spring carbonara and a mixed salad with added steak. Everything about the carbonara was great, yolky and smokey in all the right ways with gorgeous vegetables. The pork loin was perfectly tender and the maple glaze was fantastic. Even the salad with steak got rave reviews! Again, this place really knows how to cook and season meat, and they really let the vegetables shine as much as the meat. Our server Mia was friendly and attentive. And cocktails were also amazing. Thank you for a great evening!

the company i work at decided to have a dinner here, and i found the quality of the food to be quite good! the gun and rose was a very boozy little number that looked fantastic and tasted just as good. we all shared some appetizers (beet chips, grilled grand central como bread, ribeye skewers, and mac and cheese) and i would highly recommend the beet chips (crunchy and spicy, i couldn't stop eating them) and mac and cheese (creamy and classic). the como bread was nothing special except for the lovely olive butter it came with, and the ribeye skewers were a bit tough for my liking, with average tzatziki. for my entree i ordered the roasted chicken, which i did enjoy, though it felt somewhat one note with the roasted veggies and chicken both drizzled in a rather strong orange glaze. i personally love citrus and liked the glaze overall, but the dish itself didn't wow me. for dessert i had horchata creme brulee, which was absolutely lovely and unique. service was good but slow at times, as they were very busy and dealing with our large group of 10+ and the rest of their patrons. the actual space itself was rather loud, making it tough to talk to those at the table. still, i rather enjoyed dinner and wouldn't mind returning in the future.
