Absolutely love , came in with my sister . Also just want to put my two Cents in as I read the review below and it made me upset, I was here sitting down with my sister when the interaction happened below this one. The couple came in the girl was extremely rude right off the bat for NO REASON the staff member simply asked “is your dog hypoallergenic “ the gentleman (who was much nicer) replied no . The staff Merely mentioned that she was highly allergic the lady rolled her eyes and stormed off, I’m sorry but this is maine most places don’t allow dogs inside any establishment as it is a HEALTH CODE VIOLATION unless they have out door seating or signs posted “dog friendly” . The staff member was not being rude at all and I think the lady had a chip on her shoulder and was taking it way too seriously and took it out on the wrong person . Me and my sister will definitely be back again The staff member also gave us a list of places for us to check out in the area since my sister will be moving here and doesn’t know...

The stellar reviews are no mistake: this place is a gem among coffee shops. The coffee is absolutely excellent, but the costumer service was even better. A few days ago, I ordered online at the exact moment that their order printer was down or being refilled so the online order didn't print up. It was absolutely not a problem. I showed the receipt and they made my drinks. A few days later they called me because on their end it looked like I never picked up my order, and they wanted to check if there was some mistake or if a refund is needed. That is above and beyond in my book. For me, stepping into this coffee shop was like stepping into a cafe in Burundi from the coffee (which was smooth and delicious) to the hospitality. This is a coffee shop with so much heart. Please support it! I know I will be making a stop back the next time I'm in Portland. Burundi Star Team, you are wonderful! Thank you for...

Simply put- every time I start my day at Burundi Star I know it will be a good day!

The coffee is phenomenal, the food is delicious, made with care, and comes out quickly, and the atmosphere is calm, casual, and relaxed- quite often the shop is filled with the chatter of interesting people connecting with each other over good food and good coffee.

This place is a hidden gem in Portland, and I can’t recommend it enough (if that is not obvious by now). Stop by if you’re around- try the avocado toast or the egg sandwich…or if you’re lucky enough to stop by when Jocelyne is throwing down the homemade french toast special then you better make SURE to try it- you won’t be disappointed.

Overall, Burundi Star is a place that creates community through food, it is one of my favorite spots in town, and if you haven’t been by yet then you are missing out and I feel...

I first came to Burundi Star Coffee during the pandemic, not long after it opened. I made it a personal mission to support the cafe and introduce it to family and friends and now visit every time I return home to Maine - it’s my first stop after flying in to Portland Jetport! I am so happy that it is open and thriving with many fans. The coffee is seriously good and strong - maybe the best in town - and I’ve had it both hot and iced. The sambousas are yummy snacks, the merchandise is cool, and the service is warm and friendly. Scoop up a free copy of Ajambo Africa, a local multilingual community newspaper, purchase some coffee beans to go for your friends, and maybe get yourself a baseball hat to show Burundi Star Coffee love. I proudly wear my hat in NYC!

We went here while in Maine looking for Avocado toast and we are so glad we did! The food is amazing!! We got the avocado toast which was huge and delicious! But the best part was the banana soup! We decided to be adventurous as we had never had it before and it was sooo good, and authentic! The soup was similar to Maryland crab soup but better!! The coffee was also maybe the best coffee we had in Maine! We also got a cinnamon roll and a cheese danish that were spectacular! Over all it was a 10/10 and we would definitely recommend it!! The service was wonderful so welcoming and kind!
