Wow! What a seriously underrated place! First off- we had the best server ever! Emma made us feel so welcome with her bright smile and great personality! She truly made the whole experience at Margarita’s so much fun for us. She is apparently pretty new to serving, but had excellent knowledge of the menu and drinks, and went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed and were comfortable. I was struggling to decide which of the fantastic margarita possibilities I wanted to try and she let me know I could do a flight and try more than just one! I did exactly that, and every single margarita on my flight was outrageously good! I expressed how excited I was about them, and she totally sold me on the fresh margarita “squeeze” jar to bring home with me, which turns out to make fantastic margaritas at home too! She explained the infusions and the differences between the categories and flavors very well, especially for never having tried them due to being only 18 which I think shows a lot of intelligence and dedication to her customers to pay enough attention to what other customers have said so that she could give an accurate description- which she did! Huge props to Emma for being naturally good at her job and and thank you so much for working so hard; you made our experience so perfect. Get this girl a raise!
Second- the kitchen is SO fast, and everything that came out of it was beyond delicious. The shrimp and the fajitas were perfect, full of flavor and very fresh. The guacamole was the good traditional kind- with chunks of avocado and veg, not mushy and salty. Also- onions in the fajita were that perfect balance of toasty and slightly caramelized, just the way I like them.
20/10 recommend Margarita’s- especially if you are a margarita enthusiast. Everything about them is on point; beautiful bar and dining room, wonderful service, great food, and all the most amazing margaritas you could ever think of. Cannot say enough about that margarita flight, wish we didn’t have to fly home! Will definitely be back next time we’re in Portland. Might even come back JUST to have a Margarita’s...

We sat in the bar on the comfy high tops and were quickly attended to, (Server LILI T). We ordered a couple of house margaritas and they served up some complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were nice and fresh and the salsa was very good. It had a slight kick to it which was great. The house margaritas were quite tasty and my only issue is that they cost $9.75 each, which is a bit high in my view for a house drink...let's face it, while tasty, they are mostly ice, so ten bucks is just too much for a six dollar drink.
We got a couple of appetizers (it was mid afternoon) and a small side of guacamole. You can see in the picture that the side of guac was pretty small, but it was only $2.50 and it was enough to have a taste.
Our server was very pleasant and gave us waters and extra chips, which was nice.
We tried the baby chicken chimichangas and they were good for $12.50, but just good, not great. When you get these types of appetizers, (from anyplace really), they end up being mostly wrap with little filling and are just way too bready for me. We tried them many times at Margarita's but we probably won't order them again.
Our second appetizer was the Mayan Shrimp at $12.75. It was as pictured; 5 shrimp on a bed of cabbage/avocado/veggies with a special YumYum type of sauce. It was tasty and had a slightly spicy angle to it. In a perfect world adding one more shrimp to allow for an even split would be better (3 each) but we did enjoy it and even ate most of the bed of greens as the sauce was pretty good.
All in all...Margaritas has been around for a long time and it will stay on our restaurant rotation. We are even planning to take a ride up the Brunswick tonight to try the newly opened place...I assume it will be the same menu, just a different surrounding. And while the food can't compete with Pancho Villa' in Brunswick, I'm sure the atmosphere will be...
Read more2/10/23 Went for my Wife's birthday for dinner and was sadly let down by this establishment. Our first impression upon walking in was: "Does this place feel a little dirty, or is it just me?" We were greeted by a lady who seemed like quite possibly the GM and she had no idea of our reservation. Another very pleasant young lady host came over to "save the moment" by charming in with "Yes, reservation for 2, right?" While walking to the table it was impossible to miss the absolutely disgusting floor.
Our "reserved" table was anything but a premium spot to eat, for 2, which was specifically asked. We were placed by the kitchen door, which seemed to be a great hangout for the staff to be on their phones and snacking on food. Not cool. Also noticed gum on the wall. Gross!! Our server was cute and pleasant, however, she could have presented herself a lot better. Starting with the hair. Pull it off your face, and keep it tight and neat. Otherwise it's extremely easy for hair to touch or end up in the food.
The food was their saving grace, from a one star review. The food, honestly, was amazing! Look at the photos! Fajitas came out hot & sizzling! The chicken chimichangas were delicious!
The drinks... We're laughable. My wife is a complete lightweight, and doesn't consume alcohol much. So she wanted to celebrate her birthday with a Margarita,(seems appropriate for a place called Margaritas, right?). They were $11 a piece, my wife actually had 2. How could she drink 2 of these when she can't finish 1 anywhere else? I know my wife, she can't do 1 shot with out being intoxicated. She wasn't even buzzed and I am questioning the amount of alcohol that is put into their Margaritas. Not to mention that the 2 Margaritas came out 2 completely different colors!! Why? There obviously isn't much consistency at the bar, and obviously not much alcohol in the drinks.
Would we go again? ...maybe for takeout.
2 Stars; my wife deserved better.
