I received the worst service here that I've ever received at any Denny's. There was a wait to be seated (totally understandable for 5pm) but the hostess didn't even say hello to us when we walked in! She seated three tables before she even put more names on the list and then she wasn't sure which group got there first. In all we waited less than 10 minutes to be seated. Our waitress M (Merriann) didn't even walk us to our table, she just pointed and said "you sit there"
From when we sat down it took a total of 40min to receive our main dishes. In that time we were given drinks and we did get our Apitizer. M didn't check on us just to check on us during our entire meal. Our drinks sat empty for some time. She never asked how things were. She did not clean finished dishes from the table. When we ordered our main dishes, M was very rude when she asked for clarifications. There are much nicer ways to ask how someone wants their eggs prepared or what kind of cheese on their omelet.
I did use the restroom during the long wait for our food and I was very disappointed to find how little care they take. There was no toilet paper or paper towels in the restroom! You have to ask for a key as if this were a gas station not a restaurant. The keys are handled by anyone using the restroom and there is no handsanitizer to clean your hands once you have brought the key back to the front desk! Meaning you have to eat your food with bathroom key germs on your hands!
It was also very strange that they had a security guard standing at the entrance. I'm guessing this location has had problems and that is the reason for security and the bathroom keys.
We ordered four dishes. Our appetizer nachos were great! The burger and tatertots were great! Though we wished we hadn't upgraded because the tatertosts weren't as filling as a plate of fries would have been.
The Super Slams hashbrowns were over done and lamest burnt. I ordered my eggs to be made over hard and stressed I wanted the egg yolk cooked all the way. The yolks were still somewhat runny so I sent them back. When M brought the beggs back she was even ruder! Saying "Check them now to make sure they are done enough for you." She said this in a very rude tone of voice, like I was in the wrong for complaining. And she had better things to do. I strongly feel that they put the same eggs that I sent back back on the grill. They eggs looked the same as far as where the yolk and whites were. The yolks were exposed where I had cut into them before. The whites were much browner. And they tasted very rubbery and not good at all. I would have liked then to make new eggs so that I got what I ordered. Putting food that has been in a customer's hands back on the grill is so unsanitary. I also found it strange to use an alcohol pour spout on maple syrup. It took quite a while for me to get enough syrup out of the jar.
The third dish, BYO omelette, had the most mistakes. Again the hashbrowns were over done. The carmalized onions, were barely cooked. It didn't look like there was extra cheese. When we told Merriann about the cheese and onions she said "I wrote it on the ticket so they put it on there". We also ordered the omelet to have avacado on it and it did not. M brought a small slice of avacado to the table and took the charge off the ticket. We would have liked them to remake the omelet, M. made it clear that wasn't an option.
Other people also complained about M. They were told there were no managers and they would have to call the corporate number on their receipt and ccomplain to them! I managed to speak to one of the kitchen staff. He said he would get her. The manager was very nice, listened to our complaints and did give us 20% off of our bill. The manager's attitude and actions were exactly appropriate and she is the ONLY reason this is not a one star review from me.
Typically Denny's is a solid place to eat. I will not be visiting this...
Read moreThe food is as good as you'd expect. The prices are astronomical!!!! $50 for two people to eat breakfast?! Yowsers!
The service CAN be good - it depends entirely on who is working. I've had great, good, mediocre, and downright bad service. But on average it's pretty ok.
The atmosphere... Pretty terrible, pretty much all the time. Somehow, getting in and getting seated, or paying your check and getting out, are both uncomfortable, cramped, and poorly set up for. The narrow path is a huge headache for persons in wheelchairs or anyone with an accessibility accessory. A line forms when there's more than one patron trying to pay or sit down, and it's confusing which is which. I understand the open kitchen idea, and I've seen it executed successfully at other Denny's locations. Here, though, it stretches almost the entire length of the space, and it puts the customers just a little too close to the action, and removes just a little too much privacy from the kitchen and wait staff. Let's leave a little to the imagination, eh? And then there's the bathroom situation. Which is that there's always a bathroom "situation." There always seems to be someone spending waaaaaay too much time in one of the restrooms. And management always seems to have to get involved, very loudly. The person inside gets yelled at, called names, humiliated and ridiculed in front of the entire restaurant. The door is pounded on and threats are made, until a very sad and unhappy person finally comes out and runs out of the building. I don't know the exact details of who they were, whether or not they had ordered and paid for food already, how long people are allowed to use the bathroom for, etc. But I was embarrassed for them, and felt slightly harassed myself. I can't imagine if it had been myself or my grandmother for example, and I'd had to deal with the manager pounding on the door telling me in front of everyone there that "It doesn't take that long to take a $#!@." I would have been devastated. Maybe the person was using the bathroom for something that isn't allowed by store policy, but maybe they weren't. That's the point, and I still think back on it, and how uncomfortable my friend and I were the whole time we...
Read moreNot a big fan of Denny’s. They don’t have any spaghetti dishes or pasta dishes besides the lasagna they stop serving at 10 or 11 one of those and I wanted spaghetti but beggars can’t be choosers. I got there a little after midnight so prime crash out time for a lot of drunk people. I ordered my food to go, chicken fried steak and salad and got a coffee and was at the counter waiting. The staff is friendly af, super accommodating. They’re apologetic about the service because it gets slammed at that time and they deal with the best and worst of society with a smile especially at this location. I think I was waiting like 45 mins which is long, but this is late night at Denny’s in an interesting part of the city. While I was waiting a drunk patron accused the staff of paying $20 for something. One of the waitresses gave him a meal presumably his or they thought was his and even extra but he was not satisfied with the food because he didn’t think it was $20 worth of food even though I think they said it was valued at $30+ worth of food. Then the only male staff besides the cooks came out which the patron did not pay but had claimed he had and tensions were high. The patron had come up and tried to talk to me at the counter before this telling me I had a big nose then apologizing profusely and giving me his summarized life story about a bunch bs I tuned out while listening to a video with my headphones in. The staff handled him way better than they should have tbh but they really don’t get paid enough to deal with that bs and they should have a security guard on at late nights in this location but most importantly should get paid more because of what they have to deal with. Regardless I got my food and headed out while they still had to deal with the problem child that I think another patron stepped up to buy him his meal. The food was what you would expect and I got a show out of it and got to see the professionalism of the staff handling such an annoying situation which I’m sure they have to deal with constantly all night long 365 days a year. So they...
