There's one problem of getting old. It's that I've lived long enough to experience many, many restaurants. From that experience you learn what you like or dislike about restaurants' food and service. As soon as we entered, we're accosted by the excessively loud music. I'm a musician and I've always believed that music should enhance the atmosphere, but never should it upstage the clientele with its volume. Our party of 4 could not visit without yelling. When asked how everything was, I mentioned that the music was too loud. The waiter said the volume is set by the owner and he can't do anything about it. I asked where the owner was and he said they're probably somewhere sipping mai tais. OK, so the owners aren't present which is always a bad sign. The lighting was so low that I couldn't read the menu. And the menu type was too small which added to the problem. All the workers were disorganized. I felt sorry for them. Seems that they didn't have the leadership nor training that should be provided by the absentee owners. Food came in bits and pieces. Fish tacos were tasty, though even though served in a plastic basket. The guacamole and salsa and chips were bland. No seasoning. Even the salt shaker wouldn't work! lol They're set up to pay in advance. I didn't like putting a tip on the bill BEFORE I knew what kind of service I would get. Fortunately I only put 15% compared to my 20%+ tip which I usually give when I receive good service. Sorry for the bad review. If you want a proper, relaxing dining experience where you can enjoy the company of your friends, La Planchada is not the place. Over all, I have to say that things need polishing in order for this restaurant to provide the eating experience people deserve.
You'll notice that in the owner's following response, the response is totally an electronic one. They ask what they can do to make my next visit more enjoyable. But I just gave a list of problems they need to work on!! So, why do they ask me what they can do? It's because no real person...
Read moreI wanted to like this place, I really did. The staff is kind and nice and helpful, so this is no way a discredit towards them.
Here is what I didn’t like: the atmosphere. The tables were high top, skinny, with high top metal barstools. Super uncomfortable and awkward seating, very hard to hold a conversation with a group of people. Very very loud and a small space. I feel like the atmosphere is too modern and too innovative, which is surprising considering I’m a millennial and actually enjoy modern stuff. They have no menus, you scan a QR code and order at the register and they bring it to you. It’s a bit difficult to flag down a server for assistance.
I also did not enjoy the food. The portions are way too small for the price tag. The tacos are expensive, come with one tortilla and a little bit of meat and are about the size of a 1 year old’s hands. I’m a small woman and I finished 4 tacos in like 5 bites. The rice is gross. It isn’t Spanish or Mexican rice but a mix between Spanish and Indian rice. It had vegetables and squash and tomatoes in it and that made it mushy and watery. The flavor wasn’t good either. I ended up sending it back for some chips and salsa. Chips and salsa were good.
My friends and I went for a girl’s night and ended up leaving to relocate and every single person was STILL hungry. We ended up getting pizza after. I should not have to spent $26 on 4 tacos and chips and salsa and still be starving after because of their tiny portions.
I don’t think any of us will be going...

Unfortunately, the recent comments are true. The prices are up quality is down. Firstly, we waited almost an hour(50mins) for our 6 tacos, beans, rice, corn, and chips/guac($60). Yes, they were busy, but still. We were tempted to cancel and should have. The birria and elote were good. Carne asada just meh. The guac was good but small looked like 2oz. The Calabasas en papa taco was a ball of mush with under cooked squash. The tortillas didn't hold up. The beans were bland and a small scoop $5. Rice was bland and undercooked. Finally, I had gotten up to get something. I came back to my girls standing looking confused, because our table was being cleared, while we were still finishing.🥴 I had also ordered chocolate tres leches $7 to go, last week. Got to the car and saw what was pictured below. It may have been missing a leche. My daughter said it didn't taste like tres leches just reg chocolate cake Very disappointing...
