My husband and I went several days ago, hoping it would be our new go to restaurant for Peruvian food. What a huge disappointment!! My husband is Peruvian and this food lacks the flavor that authentic Peruvian food has. We ordered the papa a la huancaina, looked delicious, however lacked the spice that it should have…just no flavor at all. I won’t go through everything we ordered, but there was no flavor whatsoever.
The service was slow, and we were a bit understanding as it was somewhat busy and there seemed to be only 2 waiters, however the place isn’t that big. Then, they never came back and offered more water, we had to constantly get their attention to come to the table. It took forever to get our check. I ended up having to pay for extra time on parking because they took so long. Then, on top of that, the bill was around $70+ and our bank was showing they charged $90+, and we left no tip!!!
Here’s the tip of the iceberg!!! I get a call last night around 9:30-10pm on my business number. Several times the same number called. So my husband called back…IT WAS THE OWNER OF THE RESTAURANT asking to speak to (husbands name) and wanting to know why he left a bad review!!!! Calling MY business number. The only way he could’ve gotten that number was looking up my husbands name after HE left a review and seeing who he was married to because that is the only place this number is public is on my business page!!! How creepy is that for a restaurant owner to be stalking peoples pages just because you leave a bad review. How about taking what someone says as constructive criticism and perhaps fix your mistakes and strive to do better!!! In the whole voicemail he left was pretty much saying that it wasn’t fair that he left that review and we have to help each other and so on and so on. This is totally...
Read moreWe had a wonderful lunch at Inka Grill Raleigh this pas weekend! We found out the restaurant had just opened the week before, and at 3 PM, the entire restaurant was full. My wife is Peruvian and she gives Inka Grill a big THUMBS UP! Our server's name was Alex, and we think he could have been the manager, etc. He was excellent and very attentive.
I had the "Tacu Tacu Lomo". It is the most tender and flavorful chopped steak I have had in a long while. The tacu tacu was soft, almost overcooked rice, with beans, some of them smashed into the rice. It's a GREAT flavored "Mush"!!!! Very similar to congri in Cuban food in that everything is mixed together and cooks/simmers for a while. The sauce and veggies were top notch as well. It's very similar to a Chinese dish in the way the sauce tastes.
My wife had the ceviche mixto, which we both get frequently at Peruvian restaurants. It was flavorful, and somewhat "creamy" with everything you would expect, nice sized shrimp, "squid rings" and a white fish. Very good and refreshing on a hot summer day!
We're not in downtown Releigh very often, but we may find ourselves there a little more frequently knowing Inka Grill, Raleigh, is just...
Read moreWe had planned to go to Alpaca when I realized that an Inka Grill had just opened in Raleigh. Because the establishment in Greensboro was great and the reviews so far were very positive, we gave it a shot. It took a while to get the servers attention. He said it was their third day. The menu had some familiar items including the excellent yuca croquettes which we had at the Greensboro location. The food came out quick but was very average to a bit sub par, certainly a disappointment compared to our expectations. I am not a yuca connoisseur, but I have South American heritage and found these unusual and not appealing at all. The entrees were barely passable with my seafood being overcooked and rubbery in a flavorful but overly seasoned sauce. The restaurant is in the Capitol Club location and it looks old and worn. It's as if the previous restaurant took a few items off the wall and the new owners added a large stuffed alpaca near the door (bad atmosphere). Alpaca Chicken would have been a better choice for multiple reasons. It's early days for Inka Raleigh, and I hope...
