Ava Pizza and Wine Bar in downtown Rehoboth is a fantastic culinary find, offering a delightful dining experience that goes beyond your typical pizza joint. The restaurant boasts a great downtown location, making it easily accessible and a perfect spot to grab a bite after exploring Rehoboth. The interior is very airy and inviting, with a comfortable mix of bar and table seating, catering to various preferences.
What truly elevates the experience at Ava is the staff. Everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, even striking up good conversations that added to the welcoming atmosphere. Their genuine enthusiasm for the menu was evident and much appreciated.
Speaking of the menu, it offers a great variety, ensuring there's something to please every palate. We started with the Caesar salad, and it was absolutely delicious, featuring a homemade dressing that truly made it stand out. However, the undisputed star of the show at Ava Pizza and Wine Bar is their Detroit Style Pizza. This isn't just good pizza; it's exceptional. We tried the Mediterranean, and it was "off the hook" – piled high with fresh, vibrant vegetables, an excellent assortment of cheeses, and a dough that was both light and incredibly crispy. It's clear that high-quality ingredients and meticulous preparation are at the heart of their offerings.
While Ava Pizza and Wine Bar might not be a budget-friendly option like a quick slice from Gotto's, the slight bump in price is absolutely worth it for the superior quality of ingredients and the expert preparation.

Read morePizza was amazing. Could not have been better. I ordered a pineapple and Canadian bacon pizza over the phone. Asked for a side of ranch because I saw they charged 75 cents for that on the website. I immediately got a call back from a frantic man explaining they no longer use Canadian bacon so my pizza would be made with regular bacon. Thats fine. I walked in to pick up my pizza and the guy who called me explained to me again that some people hate bacon so he wanted to ensure it was ok with me. Again thats fine, kind of weird to bring it up again. I was clearly the only customer there. They may have had one other. Lots of employees sitting around chatting. Totally fine by me. I handed the bartender $23 for my order which cost $22.75. He asked if I wanted change. I said yes I would like a quarter back and I handed him $5 for a tip. He walked to the register and returned my check to me with all of the money I gave him (for some reason he thought I wanted him to change the $5 bill for ones). So I said to him here is $23 for the check. I would like a quarter back. Then he told me they don’t have quarters because “ this is Delaware”. I told him not to worry about it. I live and work in Delaware and I don’t see that as an excuse not to provide change. I explained to him I like to have quarters for laundry but thanks anyway and gave him back all of the money he returned to me. And I never got the ranch I overpaid for. The pizza was just as good without it. The staff is...
Read moreFirst time visiting- server knew this. Waited 20 min for ONE meatball starter. The meatball was very good, even my very picky kiddo liked it. It came in a lot of sauce so was not dry; seasoned very well. I was wondering why our server asked if I wanted to keep the sauce after we ate the meatball. Well, once I got back to my hotel, I read a review that said “keep the meatball sauce and dip it into your Detroit pizza! Everyone does this and it’s a game changer.” I wish the server had mentioned this to me instead of a generic “do you wanna keep the sauce?” It was an odd question. Had I been told WHY I might want to keep it (since she knew it was our first time visiting) I would have, esp since the Detroit pizza barely had any sauce near the crust. It took another 30 min for our pizza to come. When questioned, one server said they had many people training in the back, another said its takes a long time to make their pizzas because they’re from scratch. Anyway, our server didn’t check on us once during that 50 min wait. After the pizza came, she checked on us 1x, thankfully, because my daughter wanted something else to drink (our lemonades were pretty watery and tasteless) Bottom line, I will say the pizza was surprisingly delicious, but the service was subpar. She did give me a coupon for a free pizza next visit, which was nice. I might go back but I’ll make sure I’m not starving beforehand, so I don’t digest my liver while waiting for my food to...
