McDonald's — Restaurant in Roanoke

I had a delivery pickup. The restaurant was busy so I was being patient and waited quite awhile. They seemed to be filling many drive thru orders while there were quite few customers inside who had to wait a long time and were getting irritated. I was still patient and when I got a chance I asked about the delivery order again because it had been over 20 minutes and I read the screen that it had been in process since I arrived. I watched as an employee started putting items in the bag with no label and didn't look as if all the items on the order had been put in it. She sealed it and started handing it to me. I asked if everything was in it because it seemed too small for the list of items my screen was showing and I asked if she was sure it was the correct order because there was no receipt with the number or listed items. I asked if she could get the receipt and double check the bag. She seemed confused and got a manager who brought the receipt and attached it but told me they couldn't open the bag once sealed. I said that drivers aren't allowed to open the bag but the restaurant employees ( manager) can to ensure the correct items are in there then reseal. Mind you he was getting quite rude with me saying there was only a couple biscuits in there. There was supposed to sausage gravy biscuits, a sausage egg biscuit, Mcgriddle, and 2 sausage burritos according to the receipt. Then he said he could give me a bad rating. ( Another kind customer who was near started defending me) I let the manger know I can rate him as well. While I had waited I witnessed the same manager insultingly mocking a Hispanic young man who was inquiring about his order. over 30 minutes had passed by this time and I started taking the order out of the store, when (who I assume was another manager) came out to see what was going on, she was more polite but still didn't take measures to make sure the order was correct. There are other McDonald's that I have had a good experience with such as the Orange Ave, Vinton, and downtown Williamson Rd stores but the Hershberger store has terrible...

They Always Putting things on the window that you can get for (example) if they put 2 For $4.00 Bacon Egg & Cheese, then when you go to the speaker to order them! They'll say well they've gone off sale 🤔🤔 Then I'll say Well Why Didnt Yall Take Y'alls Sign down, that could've saved me alot of time and i could have orderd something else or even took my business elsewhere!! And one thing they not gonna do is catch a attitude with me, when its not my fault that they didnt take there sign off the windows!! But ive really got to say i really dont be messing with McDonald's like that if i dont half to!! I try to stay far away from them lol .But i do love there mocha lattes!! And another thing is I can be so people with smart mouth I can't cuss on here but they can be really smart but I can get smart right back but I'm smart I'm not going to sit there and cuss them I'm just going TO talk them down in my words! WELL I HOPE THIS HELPS A FEW PEOPLE THAT RUNS ACROSS THIS!!! But I do get that question a lot ABout McDonald's about why they advertise stuff on the window and then when you go to the intercom to order it they no longer have it or it's not on sale no more all I can say for that There just not doing their job!! They you go outside and take the sig n down they don't care though!! And another thing they never have nothing ready you always got to wait wait wait and sorry if some of my words might be misspelled!! But I will have to say the only McDonald that I like is the one in Vinton Virginia!! , and the manager is very sweet & and very nice!! But I hope this helps a few people...

Maybe it's just my thoughts or not, but I find that dining in this location is not a particularly joyful thing. They don't have the people up at the counter like in the past. You are being directed to the Walmart style of service. You are doing it yourself.

I don't know why we are not jumping up and down in protest to the self-service, but it is not what is the best way to do this. Who has worked at a McDonald's and back in the day you were McDonald's and you were the reason why they came back. I was met by a nice lady who took my order, and I was happy to let her do so. But I noticed she was very annoyed with someone who also worked there. She was telling her in a very hateful manner that she was not doing it right or wrong drinks, but she was also taking orders out to people in the parking lot. I realize that we are told that DUE TO THE LACK OF WORKFORCE EMPLOYEES YOU MAY BE EXPERIENCING A LONGER WAIT Of course, I can tell you that we were left short-handed many times, and we just worked harder. But we have decided that working casually is a normal thing. But it's a little bit frustrating for us who have seen the way McDonald's became the world's biggest fast food joint for decades. Anyway I enjoyed the food and yes talking to some other diners but it is not the place you experienced in your youth and it may give you a sad feeling that customer service has been taken off the list of things given to the ones who spend...
