Jersey Jo's Philly Cheesesteaks and More… — Restaurant in Rochester

Where do I start? Do not pass this place up. Being from Chicago I've found the Rochester food options very, very lacking. Especially when it comes to late night availability. Fast-food and franchise eatery can only take you so far.

My girlfriend and I have regularly been on the hunt for good eats, and have already tried most of the restaurants in town. We found it especially hard late at night, when options literally slim down to pizza, and 1 or 2 fast food options.

Enter JERSEY JO'S! They surprised beyond anything expected. They're open super-late, and we were sick of pizza, and discovered Jersey Jo's! We are always excited to try the new places, so we rang in a pick-up order.

We ordered the Mushroom Cheesesteak 12" to split, it came with fries, and we got 5 Spicy Sweet BBQ wings as a side. We were pleasantly surprised when we found out the wings came with fries too, so we had two orders of fries. The owner Joe filled me in on that when I arrived to pick it up. I could tell from my interactions with him and the staff that they truly care about your experience AND your food. But it gets better:

I'm pretty sure the cheesesteak sandwich would measure a little more than 12" if you took out a ruler - and not only did they not skimp on the size, but the portions inside of it were hearty!!!! When you get something here, you will get substance and lots of it at GREAT prices. The cheesesteak was delicious and DONE RIGHT! The wings are not what you would expect either. Anywhere else in town gives you the standard, little wings with choice of bone-in or boneless. Sure, they're good, but let's be honest, they're not the WHOLE wing. Jo's gives you BIG and DELICIOUS FULL WINGS!!! The whole things! Covered in delicious, beautiful yummy BBQ sauce (choice of sweet, or sweet and spicy). And the fries were delicious as well, I'd rate them among the best in town hands down.

Didn't know I spoke to the owner last night when I picked up our food, but I found out it was him from his website. I will definitely be a repeat customer, and make sure to shake his hand and thank him for great service, great prices, and great food! So glad Rochester has Jersey Jo's....

Alright, so we’re gonna start off with the customer service

My wife, and I walked in for the first time ever today! We were in kind of a rush, and she had bought me a gift card to there cause she knows phillycheese steak sandwiches are a sweet spot for me. The gentleman that helped us (the owner) was absolutely awesome! He was friendly, very open, and so nice to talk to! He knew we had never been in there before we even made it to the counter! We stood there, and talked for roughly 30 mins while his wife made our food! It was so nice to see how much a owner takes pride in his restaurant, customer service, and the opinions towards life of people he doesn’t even know! Absolutely fabulous!

The sandwich- I got the phillysteak with mushrooms, onions, peppers, lettuce, and pickles. I’d never had one with cheddar; always provolone! He talked me into half, and half which I will definitely thank him for when I come in next time. The food was extremely hot, filling, and tasted amazing. Definitely work the money! Although I couldn’t do the bread and butter pickles. Those got me. But otherwise the rest of the sandwich was definitely 10/10. Fabulous.

Fries- I got the cheesy fries for the side cause who the hell doesn’t like cheesy fries. The fries were very hot, fresh, and seasoned perfectly. The seasoning added the right amount of spice, but kepted it tasty! The cheese was hot, and wasn’t super spicy like some places! I will also thank him for not piling the cheese on so you barley tasted the fries. Was a good amount for the size of the fries! 10/10 for sure!

Overall I would give this place a 20/10 if I could. Will definitely be going back to see Jo again! Prices are great for the delicious food, and the customer service is to die for! And I will definitely be using that free loyalty rewards. The idea of it is so great being you only need your first, and last name! Makes me wanna come back just to get some free stuff! Keep it up man! Like I said...

Avoid this place.

I ordered over the phone and asked for all toppings on my burger, including jalapenos. Was told okay and to show up in 15 minutes. I showed up in 20. They hadn't started my order. Fine right? They are just probably busy. There were two people waiting when I arrived. 10 minutes goes by, another 10, and the first person got their order. Another 10 minutes and the second person does. Great! I'm next right? Only, no. They hadn't even dropped the burger. Again, fine. It happens, I'm no stranger to things going wrong in a customer facing position, and I'm a patient person. Then, when the burger was ready, they did not have any sides, and what I assume was the owner informed me that sides were extra and I should've asked for them. He DID give me a side of attitude however.

Um, I did. It was confirmed back to me over the phone. After receiving an angry look, I was told he would make an exception this time. And then I find out the fries hadn't dropped yet. We're well into 45 minutes (plus the original 20 that I ordered over the phone) now, I'm starving, and the owner is visibly angered. Finally got the food another 6 or 7 minutes later, and it is trash. The burger was tiny, I still didn't have jalapenos, and I had zero sides.

I am not a serial 1 star guy - my reviews are filled with 5 stars. This place deserves it. I honestly don't care how bad you screw up if you don't look at me like I'm the problem, when I'm not. Never again Jersey Jo's. ...
