Made reservations while we were on our way. Our son had a convention to attend to across the street at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center. We were seated right away even though we were 10 mins late to our reservations. The place was almost empty. The server then kept on asking us if we are ready to order. We asked for a few minutes and he kept coming back and we are not ready. A little annoying quite honestly. We were having a hard time mapping the photos on the Google Map reviews to the menu in front of us. Everything seems fried! Nothing was appealing. It was 100F outside and we are not from the area. We felt pushed to order. Now we are waiting for our food, and now do not want to stay in this place. First time in this predicament. Let’s hope the food is okay. Well, the food came and it did not look appetizing at all. We ordered Salmon and Polenta - the polenta is cold under the Salmon that is overcooked topped with bottled sweet and sour sauce (the Vietnamese brand used as sauce for friend spring rolls). The Salmon smells as well. It has overcooked asparagus and chopped zucchini that looked reheated as well. Not fresh. We also ordered the Vegan Chili and Cornbread. The Vegan Chili is super salty! The cornbread - cardboard. Maybe because it is vegan. The photos on Google Maps reviews looked better. I should have listened to Yelp who gave this place 3.0. Had I seen Yelp, I would not have made reservations to this place. Lastly, we order the CG Burger medium. It came well done and dry. Fries looked reheated as well. The only thing we were able to eat was the side of fruit bowl. That was fine. Maybe this is better as a drink place but not for food. I paid for food we did not eat. Bottomline, we paid for food that is inedible and server that was pushy but...
Read moreCapitol Garage always used to be one of my go-to spots for brunch pre-pandemic, and my out of town friends would always request to go here. Had a reservation for brunch this Sunday and the food was inedible. Most of my party ordered a benedict, and they all had the same problem.
I had the artichoke heart benedict, but the hollandaise had been sitting around so long it split. The poached eggs were overcooked and not runny, and the side of potato wedges were anything but crisp. There was a total of one piece of artichoke. I never salt anything in restaurants ever, but this had such a lack of flavor I had to modify it. Everything came out at room temp or below. My friend who ordered the salmon cakes benedict had the salmon cake caprese appetizer brought to her instead, and the two waiters argued over whether or not the salmon in the appetizer could be reutilized in the kitchen for the benedict, which was so off putting. Eventually, one of the wait staff put the caprese on the table, saying it was free and they would bring out the salmon benedict. By this point the cheese on the accidental appetizer had solidified and the salmon cake was also room temperature, and the sauce had congealed. They admitted the mixup between the two salmon dishes "sometimes happens because they have the same name."
Our party ate what was salvageable after a very long wait (two and a half hours) and then promptly went elsewhere to eat.
CG has been blacklisted for me. I can excuse long waits, I don't care because I'm having a good time with friends, but I won't excuse bad food. This place always had great food and long waits before, so I'm assuming it's another restaurant that didn't survive the...
Read moreCame here over the weekend when I was in town visiting with some friends and was not impressed! I pointed to the brunch grilled cheese and the waitress asked how I wanted it cooked. I asked her what she meant because it was turkey sausage and she laughed and said she thought I said the burger. Ok no big deal. Well 45 minutes later (we're pretty sure she forgot to put our orders in because 2 tables that sat down after us got their food way before we did) we finally get our food and she puts down a giant cheeseburger in front of me. She put in the wrong order for me, again not a huge deal, so I pointed it out to her when she walked by a couple minutes later. She was very apologetic and took it back saying the kitchen would make me the grilled cheese. What I ended up getting was that same burger patty just slapped between 2 slices of sourdough bread. This thing didn't look appetizing at all! I ended taking 2 or 3 bites and called it good. She never came by again to check on us, or to see if we needed our waters or anything refilled. Two of my friends got the bottomless mimosa but they only got their glasses filled up one time. Definitely not a place I'll be visiting again...
