The first time I dined here, I just wanted something light after traveling from San Francisco. I ordered the ahi tuna appetizer and one of their mocktails. The tuna was so delicious! The seasonings/dressing they used was flavorful with a little heat. And I loved the seaweed salad that was placed on top. The wonton chips were fried and seasoned perfectly and provided that crunchy texture that's needed with the raw tuna. The blackberry mojito mocktail was refreshing, especially since I was in Sacramento during one of the hottest weeks during the summer. Iwent back recently because I was staying at a hotel nearby. My family and I ordered the mac and cheese, cornbread with molasses butter, and the Brussels sprouts to share. My sister and her wife ordered their own entrees, one of which came with French fries so I defrosted nabbed some of those. I recommend getting the mac and cheese! It was baked with panko breadcrumbs for that crunch. It was delicious and comforting. The cornbread was okay. I really liked the texture as it had a nice bounce to it. The flavor was good, but I wasn't a fan of the molasses butter. I didn't think it added much, but maybe I'm used to a sweeter butter with cornbread. I also really enjoyed the Brussels sprouts, which came with a balsamic reduction. It was so good! The people who work there are really friendly and I've always felt welcomed dining here. Whenever I'm in Sacramento, Cafeteria 15L will be one of the places I have to go back to.

Great experience. Food price; taste and technique executed exceptionally. We started with cocktails I had the mockingbird (tequila base drink) which was a perfect alternative for the margarita enthusiast. My wife had Berry me (vodka based) too sweet for me but excellent and exactly what she was looking for. Appetizer, we had tots which lacked seasoning but great otherwise. For entrees we had fish and chips and brazed short ribs and both were 9/10. Truly amazing with side of Mac and cheese which was cheesy; hard baked shell with creamy consistency inside. The desert Chocolate bomb (or WE) was OK 5/10. The cake could have been hot with the cold mouse. The raspberry dressing with fresh raspberries on the rim was great touch. Overall 4 stars because they brought our appetizers and main course almost immediately following. This is my pet peeve. I use to work in a French upscale restaurant and one thing I learned is to appreciate people’s experience and not to rush them. My and my wife don’t have many opportunities to go out so when we do we wanna enjoy, have a cocktail/appetizer, chill a bit and then have main course then another cocktail and then desert. I specified this fear to our server but it happened anyway. Our server couldn’t have been nicer and more professional about it. They took our entree and remade it 30 min later. I really appreciate the excellent service. We had an amazing experience. Thanks, we will def be back!

Cafeteria 15L is an absolute gem nestled conveniently downtown at 15th and L. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and charm. The ambiance is lively yet cozy, perfect for a casual lunch or a more intimate dinner. Now, let's talk about the food. Every dish we ordered was an explosion of flavors! The Thai steak salad was cooked to perfection, with tender meat complemented by crisp greens and a delightful dressing. The green salad was fresh and vibrant, a perfect accompaniment to our meal. And the tortilla soup? Simply divine! It had just the right balance of spices and textures to tantalize our taste buds. But what truly made our experience exceptional was our waiter, Bill. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of spectacular. His recommendations were spot on, and his friendly demeanor added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. Overall, Cafeteria 15L exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Delicious food, fantastic service, and a prime location make it a must-visit for anyone in the area. We'll definitely be back for more culinary delights!
