Short review:

Good matcha. 7/10 for their regular matcha latte. 20/10 for their seasonal ube matcha latte. Will come back for itšŸ‘¹ Mid banana cream matcha, probably a 4/10 for me. Wouldn’t order it again (I’m not a fan of banana drinks).

Long review:

I’ve passed by this cafe so many times on my way to the gym and finally took the time to stop during their open hours, and it’s so worth it!! They have a diverse drink menu with coffees and matchas.

My first time I got the banana cream matcha and a regular matcha latte for my friend (which I tried of course). I tried banana cream matcha for the first time in San Jose and have been chasing that flavor ever since, and while Sunhouse was good, it’s unfortunately not the replacement I was hoping for. I liked the crunchy bits they add to the top! I wouldn’t order it again personally, but I’m also not the biggest banana person. Definitely worth a try if you like banana!! 4/10

If I’m too lazy and don’t wanna make my matcha latte at home, the regular matcha latte would be a solid choice. You can’t go wrong; it’s a 7/10 for me!

My second visit I ordered ube matcha latte. I love ube treats and have had ube with coffee before, but not with matcha so I wanted to give it a try. The ube cream top is amazingly good and the perfect flavor. I slowly sipped at my drink to really take all the ube in, and eventually let the ube cream mix more with the matcha, and I love the flavors together!! Highly recommend this seasonal drink if you like ube, and I’d rate it a 20/10. Would absolutely go back again for this drinkšŸ˜†

I can’t wait to try their coffees as well!

Note that its a small cafe with benches for seating/waiting, and a countertop to stand and sip. I wouldn’t personally sit and hang out with the limited space but I saw people vibing sošŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø My wait time for my drinks the first visit on a weekend afternoon was a bit longer. There was a line of people ahead and behind me, but the line was totally managable and the staff made the drinks within 5-8 minutes. My second time was on a weekday morning so it was very chill with a few people coming and leaving.

Like another review said, the cafe has a carton of ā€œpremadeā€ matcha, AKA they probably mix and ration the matcha with the milk the morning of or the day before. I personally don’t mind this since it generally means the matcha has already been portioned and you can count on the matcha flavor being consistent with each visit - It’s the worst when you go somewhere and have a good drink, then order it again another day and the flavor is off. I can also see how making the matcha beforehand helps with the wait time, which have been god awful at all matcha cafes ever since the surge in popularity. I’ve seen other cafes do this and don’t...

It’s always a win to see a pop-up level up into a full-blown café—and when it’s slinging matcha? Even better. I’ve had my eye on Sun House since they were just a whisper, so when they opened a brick-and-mortar not far from me? Best believe I showed up fast and thirsty.

Let’s talk Banana Cream Matcha: on paper, it sounds like something the mermaid coffeehouse would cough up—matcha, house-made vanilla syrup, milk, banana cream (yes, made with actual bananas), plus banana chips and toffee bits sprinkled on top like it’s a sundae. I mean… my blood sugar spiked just reading the menu. But honestly? It was way more balanced than I expected. Not a sugar bomb at all—just smooth, creamy, and super refreshing in this hellish triple-digit heat. Will I order it again? Absolutely. Probably too often.

The Horchata Latte? Also cute, also balanced, but missing that cinnamon rice-milk soul. It leaned more "lightly spiced latte" than "horchata."

Now for the Lemon Blueberry Muffin—visually adorable, flavor-wise delish, but the texture had us confused. We legit thought it was gluten-free. (It’s not.) Still, a sweet little bite, especially alongside the matcha.

The space is clean and modern, but let’s be real—it’s not made for lingering. There are only a few seats, and the A/C wasn’t giving. It was a full-blown sauna inside. On a 95+ degree day, it was cooler outside. Hoping that’s just an opening week hiccup, because whew.

That said—I’m already plotting my next visit. The Earl Grey Matcha, Hojicha Latte, Chai Tea Latte, and Mango Matcha are calling my name. The menu has enough intrigue to keep me coming back… even if the climate control needs a little tune-up.

How I break down my āļø reviews: 1 - Not if it was the last thing on DoorDash. šŸ—‘ļø 2 - Meh. Maybe if I’m close, and high. 😬 3 - Mid. Not texting the group chat about it. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø 4 - Hella solid. Planning my next visit. šŸ˜‹ 5 - Shut up! Take my money....

Was very excited to visit, sadly disappointing. I like the vibe and the aesthetics but I feel like they put more effort in maintaining the ā€œvibeā€ than their coffee. I’m sure their matcha and other drinks are good but if you like regular ice lattes and coffee I don’t recommend. My latte literally had coffee grounds at the bottom. This simply doesn’t happen off an accident clearly their baristas don’t have the experience because that should be the last thing a coffee shop should produce. Coffee is watery tasting and I knew watching them make the coffee that it wasn’t going to be good. No hate all love but just want to share my experience. Nice people and nice little shop but at the end the product is the main thing but it’s robbery for a coffee shop not to understand bean grinding size, and how to pull a basic shop...
