This is my second time coming to this location. My first time was a few years ago. Walking in they have these huge double doors that makes me feel like I’m going somewhere exotic. As soon as you come inside, the lobby area is nice with some fancy comfy looking chairs. I arrived at 9 PM on a Friday night and was seated promptly. I asked if we could sit on the train and they were able to accommodate us. We sat in the seat all the way in the back and it is kind of hard to get into. There is one pole on each side that you have to fit through. If you’re a bigger person this would not be comfortable at all. The server gave us our menus and didn’t come back until about 15 or 20 minutes later. By then she took our order and promptly came back with our drinks and some bread. Just because you’re hungry don’t make the mistake I made and munch a whole lot of bread!! I ordered the meat lovers treat. Which consists of Sicilian Meatballs, Italian Sausage and Spaghetti with Meat sauce. For a total of $21.99. The meatballs were warm from the outer layer and were pretty cold on the inside. I was a bit disappointed by that because I really like the meatballs from OSP. The sausage on the other hand was actually warm, but the taste wasn’t all there. The ambience inside the train is kind of dark. They have some lights, but they are dark. I don’t mind it, but I know some people do so I just thought I’d put...
Read more3 stars for the totality of experience... The location downtown is obviously downtown... And although there was no homeless present at dinner time... It smelled outside the establishment at the entrance of the establishment of urine and funky odors... It was not appealing... The service was great... The greetings, the prompt response, the rapid seating... All outstanding... The server was kind, helpful, attentive, bubbly... The food was meh... This is my hubby favorite place based on nostalgia... I'm a Sicilian and have a slightly different opinion on Italian dining ;) the soup was requested with a meatball... That said meatball was questionable as to if it was fully cooked... As there was evident pink spots on the meatball... The soup was lackluster without the questionable meatball... No flavor ... My hubby swears by the brown butter mizthra pasta... It's very good.. I'll give em that .. I had the lobster and crab ravioli with Alfredo pesto and it was good .. BUT I have to admit I thought they were Costco ravioli.... I should have gone with the Chicken Marsala or Shrimp Fettuccine, as I was leaving I saw folks eating that and I was bummed I didn't get it... This is a good place to eat... The cost isn't horrible.. the portions are hearty... I'll go back for my husband only lol ... BUT y'all really gotta do something about the front entrance smell... Power wash it or something... I'm...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite and most often visited restaurants in Sacramento. It’s a re purposed old train station, beautifully appointed throughout. There are magnificent carved settees and chairs in the welcoming lobby. You’ll feel at home whether your in jeans or dressed up to the nines. People go with multiple families and friends for huge celebrations or even for a quite evening for two. Do make reservations because they are always busy with crowds waiting to be seated. Both the food and service have been unfailingly good. I love the minestrone soup with lots of Parmesan. My husband prefers the salad, dressing on the side. We both appreciate the warm fresh bread with butter … so, so hard to resist. I have enjoyed the 1/2 Chicken, Spinach Tortellini and the Spinach and Cheese Raviolis - both with 1/2 marinara and 1/2 Alfredo sauces (my choice and extra). My husband likes the White Clam Sauce, Chicken Parmesan, and Meat Lover’s Treat. Our friends ordered Chicken Marsala and the Fettuccine Alfredo. Both enjoyed their meals. Being seniors we have a hard time finishing everything on our plates… we box some - and then enjoy their spumoni as a light desert with Tea and Coffee just the way you like it. It’s always a pleasure to be there and always great food. And, in my opinion, it’s also the best value for money for a three course...
