My wife and I thoroughly enjoy Thai food and have tried MANY Thai restaurants all over the Sacramento area. Swasdee is the best Thai I've ever had in Sacramento. We had the Crisp Fried Calamary for starters. I've never seen squid served in this way, but it came to us in what can best be described as "calamari chips". If they sold this stuff in stores, I'd buy it all. The tangy plum sauce that comes with the calamari for dipping was delicious. For the main dish, I ordered the Pad Him-ma-parn (the stir fried Cashew plate). The flavors and spices were amazing, the meat was tender and delicious and portions on the lunch plate were perfect. My wife had Pad Prik Gang (Pumpkin Stir Fried) with tofu. Tasty tofu can be hard to come by if it's not done properly and this was certainly done with care and love. The flavor penetrated each part of the meal and eventually every part of the pallette. To finish things up, we ordered the Fried Banana Ice Cream and were presented with a choice of coconut, taro, vanilla, or green tea ice cream (we opted for Coconut). The dessert came with four adorable (and delicious) banana filled eggrolls which were drizzled with a creamy sweet sauce. the ice cream was delicious and truly wrapped up the whole experience of our meal nicely. I'd DEFINATELY revisit and will be recommending this establishment to fans of food everywhere. When I complimented the server on a job well done, I discovered that the restaurant is family owned and ran. Our waitress thanked me, saying that they pride themselves on being able to bring the flavors of their much beloved cuisine to the people of Sacramento. I can't...
Read moreWe arrived right when the restaurant opened. Seated and serviced really quickly. It's a popular place and filled up quickly. Probably because graduation cermonies just concluded as well.
We got a lot of food. Pros: large portions, quick service. Delta: flavor just didn't hit. I don't know what was missing, but something was missing. Larb- I've never had such a watery larb before. *everything was a little too watery imo.
Red curry - we liked the eggplants. I don't see it too often in curries, but it was really good. Pineapple fried rice - my dad ordered this item, and I didn't get to read through the ingredients, but there were no pineapples! We had a lengthy discussion about whether it's was called pineapple fried rice because of the color (bright yellow) or the presence of pineapples. đ definitely remember to ask for your pineapple, though. Red snapper- snapper was really tender and soft. Easy to eat, a bit spicy for us for late morning/afternoon. Loved the eggplants here also. Thai pork belly - this one is always a favorite in any thai restaurant, but this pork belly cut was a bit thick and hard to chew. It was mostly soft. The dish was watery, and interestingly, they added mostly regular broccoli and carrots instead of mostly Chinese broccoli. Thai steak- meat was tender. It doesn't present as appealing tbh, but it was probably one of the top dishes. The pepper sauce was...
Read moreI bought a Groupon for this place and have not been able to use it because the restaurant is never open when it says it is. First, we stopped by on a Sunday at 10:30. Closed but they had menus on the door saying that they where open 11am- 10pm Daily. OK, so we'll wait a bit and come back when they're open, no biggie. So I dropped off my car down the street to get detailed and we'll eat while we wait for it to get done. We come back at 11:30 and guess what? Still not open. That's weird because their menu clearly says that they should be open and there is no sign to say otherwise. Odd, so I checked the website... it says they're open 11am to 10pm but they're closed on sundays. We'll that sucks, I guess we'll try again for dinner on Monday since they're open late. 9:05pm monday, here we are for the third time and NOPE not open. Not a single light on. Wtf? Is this place ever open? Maybe I'll...
