Had a great meal here! I came many years ago when it was a different name. I was pleasantly surprised that the hype was real. I had the birria tacos, side of rice and the chips and salsa. Listen, the rice was the best part of the meal. It's SUPER good. Extremely flavorful and not salty. the birria tacos are served like street tacos. The corn tortillas are made with yellow corn and really good. I like to dress my own tacos but these were very tasty. The chips and salsa are incredibly good too. The salsa is fresh and not spicy. I REALLY appreciated that it wasn't. It's easy to make something spicier if you want too, you can't take spice away. I took some to-go. I tried the prickly pear margarita and sent it back. It just taste like tequila and that wasn't what I was looking for. I wanted the guava but they were all out. It's pretty busy in the front room and a little loud. A couple small tvs at the bar. I spent $23 total (including a Shirley temple). Pricing was more...
Read moreFood here is top notch. Full of flavor, fast to your table and great portions. You simply can't beat it. There's so much to choose from, it's hard to say which thing was my favorite. I've had the asada fries for happy-hour, loved the carnitas, quesobirria is literally the best anywhere (I order it whenever I see a place has birria), guac and chips (with those pickled onions!) tasted so fresh it was incredible; all of it was hands down the best I've had. Then there's all the salsa's depending on if you want a spicy adventure or just full flavor. Being in California there's lots of Mexican food to choose from, depending where you're at, but in Sac this is the only place I'd recommend, period. And if you're like my wife, she can eat Mexican food 7 days a week, so this is a must when...
Read moreI stopped in at 5:40 on a Wednesday night to order a quesadilla to go and maybe have a beer. The lady bartender immediately said we're closed when I walked in. No sorry or no what I can get You... There were about 20 customers in the bar at the time. I'm a previous restaurant owner and first I'm wondering who closes at 6 on a Wednesday and why? Even so at 5:40 you're still open so why turn people away without even asking why they came in. This lady bartender was rude and more focused on leaving before the posted closing hours than on my business or the reputation of the restaurant. I went to El Rincon, a little hole in the wall in midtown and received excellent service and a delicious quesadilla to go. Thirty Four......
